Lord Friendzone
Tarly, Rickard, Meribald...it doesn't matter. Ian fu*king McShane will be on Game of Thrones. Max von Sydow another legend. Now we need stellar casting for Euron.
Jô Maltese
We now have the answer I think: the Elder Brother on the Quiet Isle. http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/11/game-of-thrones-ian-mcshane-the-hound-returns

The Arthur Smith
Heh, McShane as usual. Always for money, no matter what kind of film/show he's in.
Le Cygne
He speaks quite highly of other shows. He thinks Deadwood was great, and it was.

It is funny how recently departed from the show actors and new comers with "gravitas" are basically dissing the show for the cheesy crap it has become. Stephen Dillane - Stannis and Ian McShane - probable septon in season 6. Also, former Cersei's Bastards, Gleason = Joffrey and Richardson = original Myrcella seemingly after Sansa's rape. Channel4s-JonSnow
McShane has appeared in some of the worst movies I've ever seen. He is literally the pinaccle of 'rent a bad guy' acting. Loved him in Deadwood.. and even in Lovejoy in the 80s.. but hes so lazy when it comes to acting, he's been living off the coat tails of Al Swearagen for years. of man and wolf
Yup the guy has no passion. He just takes whatever is given him if the money is good. Could care less about anything else. Which is bad.
Channel4s-JonSnow
I was actually really annoyed when they cast him, it will really take me out of the show as I know EXACTLY how he will be playing his character.. basically the same he has done as everything else since Deadwood. I don't like them casting well known actors in the show, spoils it a bit.

What makes you think they have a higher opinion of the books. But they didn't diss the show. They clearly new very little about the show they signed on and weren't interested in learning more. It's a big reason they couldn't be bothered reading the books.

Its highly unlikely any of them have read the books or even seen the show. Someone like McShane just turns up for the pay packet. Many actors are quite snobbish about the things they appear in, but it doesn't stop them taking the money.

Some of them have admitted to reading, others can tell from years of acting, reading scrips, what the show is about and where it came from. The actors act for money, that is their career. Many of them do care about the story they are playing in.

Who cares about things that aren't good. They do their job, the best they can, and move on. Like everyone else.
