Jon the Blonde

For the last time, ITS NOT BLONDE HAIR!
If you type up "silver blonde hair" on Google, hardly any of the images shown could be labeled as blonde.

Silvery blonde hair is not the only hair type of the Targaryens. It changed from blonde to platinum in varying degrees for Targaryens with Valyrian features.

Yeah, but Viserys was described as having silver blonde hair, and in the house of the undying Dany noted the differences between Rhaegar and Viserys - Rhaegar was taller and had darker eyes (other than that they looked similar). So I'm assuming they had the same hair colour.

Yes and Jon as a Targaryen didnot have to have the same hair as Rhaegar. He might have had a shade lighter or darker, some random streaks of dark hair etc. Likewise, he might have been blonde or sandy brown.

Also "silver blonde" the "blonde" is right there in the name. Just like brown can vary in many different shades, so can blonde from golden over reddish to whitish silver.

Yeah, IIRC "blond" simply refers to hair with low levels of pigment i.e light hair.

What do you think would have happened if Jon took after Rhaegar in terms of physical appearance?

It seems like dumb luck that he took the Stark features.  I suppose Ned could have lied and said he took someone with Valyrian features as a lover (a Dayne?).

No, he would, again, have said nothing specific and let people speculate who the mother was. Nothing really changes.

Silver hair would be more dangerous than violet eyes. If I remember correctly, Ashara had dark hair so even that excuse would be flawed. Ned could say that Jon’s mother was a woman of Valyrian decent, but even that leaves room for doubt when there is an obvious alternative. I think Ned would be forced to leave Jon with Howland Reed at Greywater Watch, safely hidden away. He would probably regret killing the Kingsguard outside the ToJ the moment he laid eyes on the baby. They were Jon’s best protection outside himself.

Although, Darkstar has silver hair and so did Arthur Dayne so depending on how trustworthy/loyal House Dayne were to Rhaegar, perhaps they could have claimed Jon as their own.

Silver-blonde hair is indeed blonde, just very light/pale in pigmentation. Example: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/8c/c4/8b/8cc48b280de460fc67a4f0564678ac68.jpg

Well, I picture silver blonde to look like this http://www.hairworldmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Silver-Ash-Blonde1.jpg
