Trump is so counter productive he has now accomplished the near impossible. He has managed to unite the Saudis, the Turks, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Shiite and Sunnis alike everywhere. All warning against Trumps recent decision to ignore any Palestinian claims to Jerusalem and announce it as the Israeli Capitol. Trump has not yet offered any explanation to how this decision or moving the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would in anyway facilitate peace efforts in the Levant.

Happy Hanukkah

It's good to know that the U.S. is still respected by world leaders.

I think that a huge portion of the GOP were convinced that the narrative that "Republicans can't pass anything" would be more harmful than the blowback of passing a terrible tax cut.  Particularly when the GOP donor class loves the tax giveaway.

They could have done a more broader based tax cut and it would have been hugely popular. That's why I think Republicans believe they are going down and are grabbing the loot while they can. It's either that or they think 100% of their voters are stupid.

Much like with Obamacare repeal. The Republicans would accept nothing but the most vicious healthcare cuts possible. To the point of failing to pass a bill.

They don't think about their voters at all, other than the simple axiom that their voters would sooner vote for a pedophile than a Democrat. By that token, they know that they're very safe as long as they're not Democrats.

And they know that the only other way that they will be made unsafe is if they speak ill of the leader, as Flake and McCain and Corker and Romney have done.

It must be so hard for some people being anti-Semitic and Islamophobic. But I guess Israel never bombed the USA, so for the time being the enemy of my enemy is my friend means they have to be friendly with Israel.

Well, it's shocking the SEC is regulating anything at all at this point. Also though, it looks like cryptocurrencty ICOs have not escaped federal oversight. They might have to wait to build the floating islands before escaping.

The Cryptocurrency Crackdown
The SEC’s cyber unit has filed its first complaint, and it’s a good one.

You've never heard of Christian Zionism? A large percentage of fundamentalist and evangelical Christians are more supportive of Israel than many Jews are, because of their belief that the founding of modern Israel fulfills Biblical prophecy:

So, North Korea nuclear pissing contest, climate change, wild fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, Jerusalem being made the capital of Israel.

No wonder Trump and the GOP has such strong unwavering support with a large fraction of their base. They want this. Maybe they couldn't be happier with the way things are going. This is their sure sign of the impending Rapture.

There are a whole lot of evangelicals - including a fairly famous ASOIAF artist who frequents this board from time to time - who believe precisely this - that the end of the world is coming, and being anti-Muslim is the most important thing to do - along with protect Jerusalem. They expect an end of days war, and look for the signs.

And Trump's son-in-law owning 666 fifth avenue is either overlooked as a bad sign to them or do they make that fit in the narrative working for them?

They don't believe in those sorts of things mattering to them.

That Trump won at all despite absurdly long odds is a sign that God wants Trump to be there, and that Trump will deliver the victory. That he is chosen to defeat the gay marriage and the muslims and the apostates, and that theirs isn't to reason how he was chosen, only back up that he was.

If you're a conservative clown or a Republican, would you please stand up and answer this question.

If you believe in the Republican's growth claims from their corporate tax cut, would you be willing to have the CBO reassess long term fiscal projections using Republican growth projections? If not, would you just admit you're a dishonest or ignorant clown?

Quote

Medicare has got some serious issues because of Obamacare.”

False. In fact, just the other day, a Fed study found that Obamacare has seemingly slowed down medical price inflation. Secondly, anyone that has looked that the CBO projections knows that most of future spending comes from Medicare, not the other stuff.

Quote

“Frankly, it’s the health-care entitlements that are the big drivers of our debt, so we spend more time on the health-care entitlements — because that’s really where the problem lies, fiscally speaking.”

Its true that healthcare spending is the biggest driver of future and current deficits. I'm glad you admitted this. So could you assholes stop blaming things like SNAP and TANF. Because I know that's what most dumb ass Republicans believe.

And of course, you know, it would nice if somebody just acknowledge we have an overpriced healthcare system, which is a big part of the problem.

Quote

“I think the president is understanding that choice and competition works everywhere in health care, especially in Medicare.”

Yeah, well, we know that's been a questionable assumption since Kenneth Arrow wrote his paper about healthcare markets. Plus, most countries that achieve lower cost have government involved in some fundamental or significant way.

This just dumb ass free market fundamentalism at its worst.

Quote

Would Trump actually follow this advice?

Sure he would. He is a dumb ass after all. He makes Mr. I'm livin in Ayn Rand novel look smart.

It occurs to me that the best thing that could happen for the party is if someone accused Doug Jones of rape and he was pressured to suspend his campaign.

It'd be a political victory comparable to the great Phyrrhus at Asculum

Hahahah. I wonder if there are Manafort soldier of fortune novels out there, perhaps written by Eric Prince.

TPM reported that the op-ed could be described as a “love letter to Manafort.” That description, however, does a disservice to love letters, which generally are a little more subtle.

Here are some highlights:

—The title of the article is “European Integration Unknown Soldier.” That’s supposed to be Manafort. The “unknown soldier.

Democrats are finally holding themselves to a higher standard on harassment
The party had two options: hold its own harassers accountable, or set itself up for moral — and political — failure.

Something to be hopeful about?

Quote

Jen Jordan officially ends GOP supermajority in Georgia State Senate

It was already a foregone conclusion, but Democrat Jen Jordan has become the newest member of the Georgia State, ending a two-thirds supermajority previously enjoyed by Republicans.

Jordan, a lawyer, won the election over Howard, a pediatric dentist, with 10,681 votes (64 percent) against Howard’s 6,017 votes (36 percent).

Nah. Jones could single-handedly save the state of Alabama from an invasion of gay Muslim vegan socialists led by the reanimated corpse of US Grant and they'd still never forgive him for prosecuting Klansmen.

Reminds me of one of the news blurbs that begins the chapters in the Otherland books, talking about how the Middle East finally makes peace with each other in order to team up and defeat America. :/

You do realize this is very close to evangelical Christian end-times theology, right?  Gog and Magog, massive armies clashing, that sort of thing?
