    I ran that through TranslateGP.

"Gollum was a really popular character in the original films and the original films made a ton of money, which is something we could not really ignore. So our thinking is that by making a whole film about Gollum, we'll make an absolute shit-ton of cash, and is that not what mankind has dreamt of since we first looked at the stars?"

"What's that? Gollum was merely a supporting/side character in films with a vast array of characters and huge setpiece battles, and wasn't even in the first one? And he was a marvellous and incredible cutting-edge piece of visual effects technology in 2002 but your 6-year-old cousin can now generate something more convincing in five minutes, so simply Gollum being on screen might not be that impressive any more? Ridiculous talk! Now, let's discuss the new Mercedes I'll be buying."

He was very briefly in thr first one; Frodo spied him in Moria

I don't know anything about this story but considering how badly Clone Emperor was received this sounds like a bad idea...

One of the antagonists is a clone of a dark jedi called Jorus C’Baoth. His clone is called … Joruus C’Baoth.

There’s also an evil clone of Luke (cloned from his lost hand) called … Luuke.

The books had flaws, and some background stuff doesnt fit in well with the later prequel films. Also no authors had a clue what the Jedi were like, so its mostly quoting Yoda. In the trikogy’s favour,Zahn was clearly enthusiastic, and this does show through. Thr books exude ‘holy shit I’m writing Star Wars!’

Re the cloned emperor, this was done in the EU (expanded hniverse ‘) too, in comics! And is referenced in the novels. It sucked even worse than Rise of Skywalker. Luke goes Darkside and beckmes cloned Palpatine’s apprentice

Did anyone see Harfoots in the trailer?  If they were there I missed them.

The trailer itself to me appeared incoherent. But then I was fairly certain that season 1 would be unwatchable for me, and that turned out quite differently -- though not for most of those here.

BTW, to what does this comment refer? :dunno:

    "So 2003"

I’m assuming they’re not in it save for whatshername who went off with gandalf

Man imagine if they made the Thrawn trilogy, as the sequel films. For obvious reasons they would have to recast Luke, Han and Leia, but dam, we would have gotten the best trilogy in the series.

Eh no! It was fone for its time but is massively flawed. Cloned jedi, cloned Luke, ysalamiri (sp), Thrawn commanded too few ships, Zahn basically had his own smuggler and force sensitive to donthe heavy lifting instead of Luke and Han.

  5. Been doing a chronological Trek rewatch  (finished a curated Enterprise rewatch), and now onto Discovery season 2. Was amused by the ep where a ‘virus’ fucks up thr universal translator and everyone starts speaking Spanish and other language. Also weird that Starfleet’s response to the arrival of a genocidal despot from another universe was to give her a job.

After Disc season 2, I’ll move onto my first-time watch of Strange New Worlds. I’ve not watched seasons 3 and 4 of Discovery yet but I’ll save them until season 5 is on blu-ray

  6. Got a leaflet through the door from the local Tory MP candidate who’s gling to great pains to say that Labour have no chance in this area (East Renfrewshire), so it’s either him or SNP.
He’s also gone to great pains to not directly mention that he’s a Tory, the leaflet has no Tory logo or colours. I thought he was maybe an independent at first.

    I think I have gout

Any family members have it? It can be hereditary. Your gp can prescribe Allopurinal which limits the production of uric acid which causes gout.

Also apparently rapid changes to your diet can cause it rather than just eating certain things.

I had a long, bad attack while in South Africa, living on a game reserve for two months. Was eating no junk (save for a choc ice during the weekly town shop) and barely drank alcohol.

Sounds like they did it. By less than 1000 votes. That's the way, crush their spirits.

Some Tories/Tory media sympathisers will be reporting the narrow win as a catastrophe for Labour.

Hell, Andrew Mitchell is already saying that the recount means Street has either won or nearly won, and so it’s a good thing

From what they said on the radio this morning, he isn’t even someone who arrived on a boat, when the main selling point of the Rwanda policy is to stop the boats

Awaiting the revelation that he’s here on a two-week holiday and has lost his return ticket, and decided to chance it

Can you spell burning toast, or are you just on your phone and not paying attention?

Edited now. Was on phone and a work call

What’s controversial about the actual scheme is that its deporting people whose claims havent been approved or rejected, and it’s forced. This guy’s claim was rejected, he volunteered and he’s getting £3k

  11. The Scottish FM job seems cursed. Donald Dewar died (albeot oversaw the Holyrood construction fiasco).

Henry Mcleish had to resign over an expenses scandal (from memory).

Jack McConnell lost to the SNP

Alex Salmond quit after losing the independence referendum and has been dogged by allegations of sexual improprieties, some of which went tk court (tho exonerated).

Nicola Sturgeon quit but soon after was detained by the police and questioned over financial improprieties which has seen her husband charged with embezzlement.

Humza Yousaf. Fucked around with the Green Party and Found Out

Turns out the "openly Jewish guy" was openly looking for a fight.  He apparently goes to all the pro-Palestinian marches, looking for a fight. Twat.

Not a suprise. At Orange Walks, there’s always at least one die hard in a Celtic top who just happens to want to cross the road at that particular time. Or if it’s a republican march, someone in a Rangers top.

How is this an argument? You are basically saying nobody can ever been concerned about anything unless they are equally concerned about everything else and loudly talk about it. Did you even think before you typed that?

Did you even think before you typed that??
A tiny minority of kids cone out as trans. I believe something like 7 kids a year in Scotland are prescribed puberty blockers. But this is somehow a bigger childcare issue than all of the stuff I mentioned??

Of course it isn’t. It’s an excuse for people to voice their transphobia while pretending to be motivated by child welfare.
