A friend posted a vid on fb of some fierce winds in Norway. People would try to cross the street and get blown backward. An old man tried and suddenly some policemen appeared (strong fellows) and escorted the man across. The younger folk got no such help. :P). It didn't say the town, but I'm guessing it was the west coast, perhaps Bergen. In south Sweden where you are perhaps the winds weren't so bad?

Oh we have no problems with wind here! It must've been local.

That kind of weather hits us a few times a year, but it doesn't cause terribly much damage mostly. We go to work etc all the same. Some flooding or people falling over mostly. And cars and boats being washed away of course, if you are on the coast.

We're used to it.

Sleep is decent these last weeks. Nothing to be happy about but ok :)

Had another follow-up with my pain management doctor today. They've suggested a third epidural at the base of my spine. Looks like the nerve block helped but I'm still in a lot of pain - it has just moved to a different area. I swear it's like patching a leaky roof. As soon as you get one area sealed off, the water finds a new place to leak. I have an appointtment with a spine specialist in November so I'm going to hold off on the injection until after I get the second opinion. Work is being really supportive - allowing me to take unpaid days even though I've exhausted my FMLA leave and vacation/sick days. Ordinarily they dock your upcoming year's vacation allotment. I'm very thankful for their understanding.

Oh my knee is much better. Getting stronger all the time. I'm still having a hard time being on my feet most of the day but that's because of the spine stuff. I'll get better eventually.

That's the update. Not much else going on here. I can't get any tattoos until I can sit in the chair - that has me a bit bummed out as I want to do the memorial tattoo for my Dad and I have to add him to the tree (plus I want my tiny crown before the end of the year). Priorities. Ha!

I am so relieved. I cancelled one trip and cut London short, and still used up the rest of my vacation days for those spine injections. I've worked there for 15 years - guess that bought me some extra goodwill.

Re: dealing with chronic pain - you just kind of find a way. I stretch twice a day at work and that really helps. And I avoid the movements that will set me back. No twisting. No bending at the waist (I kind of curtesy to pick things up off the floor - it's hilarious). Plus you'd be surprised by what you can handle when there is no option to fail.

Thanks again to everyone for all the well wishes and support. King Tyrion was awesome about passing along everyone's messages. It really helped lift my spirits when I was was down. You guys are the best! :kiss:

Maid, it is nice to have you back. I am sorry you are in so much pain but it is great that work are so supportive to you. You arr very lucky. My Mam had problems with her back about 6 years ago, she was in so much pain she coul hardly walk. She had to take loads of time off work for tests and stuff, amd like you said, a lot of it was docked from the following years holiday allowance. Anyway, hope you manage to get your tattoo before the end of the year! *crosses fingers*

I have 1 lecture today and then it is reading week. Everyone is complaining that they have so much work to catch up on, but I have...1 essay that still needs finishing. So I have a week pretty much to myself. Ah, the luxury :smug: Being on top of my workload has paid off at last.

I was going to post that video here, because it is pretty impressive how strong the wind is. I remember trying to walk in a wind like that down in Chile. The car rental place actually took pains to warn us that strong winds were forecast fr the next week and to make sure we held onto the doors - hard - when we opened them. Apparently car doors had been ripped off in the past.

But it turned out the date on the video was December 2013 . . . oops.
