Ser Scot A Ellison
Texas Governor Greg Abbot has deployed the Texas "State Guard" to observe US military manuvers in Texas: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/white-house-texas-at-odds-over-military-drills-decried-by-far-right/ar-BBiTQXW?ocid=ansnewsreu11 From the article: A decision from Texas Governor Greg Abbott to deploy the Texas State Guard to monitor a U.S. military training exercise some conspiracy theorists see as a prelude for federal occupation was met with puzzlement by the White House on Wednesday. "I have no idea what he's thinking," White House spokesman Josh Earnest told a news conference. The eight-week training exercise known as "Jade Helm 15" is a multi-state exercise with members of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. "The thing that I can say without having a lot of detailed knowledge about the particular exercise is that in no way will the constitutional rights or civil liberties of any American citizen be infringed upon while this exercise is being conducted," he said. The exercise has served as a focal point among many in the far right who see the Obama administration as trying to force its will, strip citizens of their arms and impose federal control over states. Oooooookaaaaaaayyy... Then we have this that a very right wing republican friend posted on his facebook page. It claims the US is using Federal funding to take over local police departments: http://www.infowars.com/breaking-baltimore-mayor-key-player-in-obamas-federal-takeover-of-local-police/ From the article: The federal government can be a strong partner in our efforts in build better relationships between the police and community, she said in written testimony before the task force. That would explain her inaction to stop the rioting when it began: by allowing it to spiral out of control, the mayor and her friends at the Justice Dept. could use the unrest to justify the expansion of federal power into local law enforcement, which would also allow her to receive more funding. Wow. The shear insanity of these "theories" is really amazing. I can hear the "wup, wup, wup" of the black helicopters carrying UN troops now. eyenon15
Is the governer monitoring the federal troops the crazy part? Or the theories about what the troops are doing the crazy part?

Ser Scot A Ellison
Sologdin,Wouldn't he have to be a member of the British Royal family to fit in that conpiracy? There is a guy at my church who, in all sincerity, believes in the illumanti. I need to see if I can get him to read Foucault's Pendulum just to watch his head explode. Fez
Is the governer monitoring the federal troops the crazy part? Or the theories about what the troops are doing the crazy part? Both. Its only 1,200 troops, they are significantly outgunned by any mid-sized Texas community.
eyenon15
Both. Fez
From the article I gathered the governer was simply monitoring them, not sending troops to declare war. Sure. But my point is, 1,200 federal troops is not nearly enough to start a takeover of Texas. So, disregarding everything else that doesn't make sense about this conspiracy theory, there just aren't enough troops involved for it to happen. It's crap like this that gets the gun crazies all riled up and prevents proper discourse on a serious topic.
