As I discussed before in this thread, before the forum got new layout, I think Trial by Seven at Ashford Tourney strongly foreshadows Sansa's Trial by Seven against Cersei's accusation of Joffrey's murder.

Fossoway cousins are foreshadowing Ilyn and Podrick Payne and their eventual fight. Lyonel Baratheon and Duncan the Tall are Jaime and Brienne parallels. Baelor's fatal head injury by his brother Maekar I think is foreshadowing Sandor's head injury by UnGregor.

Humfrey Hardying and Humfrey Beesbury are two I can't put my finger on, but I think Hardying is foreshadowing Loras Tyrell when you compare these two guys' storylines.

Ser Robyn Rhysling was called to Dunk's side at Aegon's request since he knew him for a while. I think Podrick, as a squire parallel to Aegon, will invite Ser Bronn of Blackwater, since he knew him from their time in Tyrion's service.

So, to sum it up, Sansa's seven are Sandor, Brienne, Podrick, Bronn, Loras, Jaime and I think Arya will enter as well, either as herself or someone else. Cersei's seven will be UnGregor, Ilyn Payne and 5 other Kingsguards (not sure who exactly yet) that Jaime is going to engage in a battle (by that time Jaime will be using his left sword hand well and there is a foreshadowing for him fighting 5 Kingsguards with his left hand in his conversation with other members of Kingsguard).

This is based of a thread from Mithras, no?

I think the Ashford Tourney, whether the tourney itself or the trial by combat, hints at a little something in Sansa's future, but I'm not quite sure what.  I don't think anything that happens in the Hedge Knight should be taken too literally, but neither disregarded either.  We know that a giant is somehow connected to the Jonquil's tale (It was a good show, sad and sweet both, with a sprightly swordfight at the end, and a nicely painted giant.) via The Hedge Knight as well.  (I'm assuming the giant=LF in some way.)  I also noticed recently a parallel between the dragon Aerion destroys in The Hedge Knight and the location of the eggs on Drogo's funeral pyre in AGoT.

I'm not sure that I agree with this seven (I have my own theory/theories in my signature), but ultimately I think Sansa will succeed where even Tyrion failed: she will be able to prove her innocence via a trail.  Sansa role is growing in the diplomat instead of the warrior.  She'll win her innocence with words not swords.

Yes, Mithras gave a big chunk of idea here, so I went to analyze the participants of Trial by Seven in Ashford and future possible participants.

The thing is, at this point, Jaime's story arc, besides other stuff, involves his vow of protecting Stark girls. As he said, "Sansa Stark is my last chance at honor".

If she is his last chance of honor, then what would be more honorable than protecting Sansa and keeping his vow against his own sister and lover Cersei? It fits so well.

Plus, there is Bran's vision in AGOT of two shadows, one with a face of a hound and another golden and beautiful standing over Arya and Sansa (protecting them) before larger shadow (UnGregor). By the end of the trial, Sandor and Jaime protecting Stark girls from Cersei's monster is poetic in a way (Brienne is another survivor, but she might be injured or unconscious to continue, I don't imagine her dying in this one, in fact she and Stark girls are the only ones I see surviving).

Brienne's whole storyline is mostly about finding Stark girls and getting them to safety, so I don't think we need too much evidence here.

And as I said, Fossoway cousins reflecting Paynes is a nice way to show how different Podrick and Ilyn are. Since Ilyn is on Arya's death list, I could see a scenario where Podrick saves her from fatal blow in Arya and Ilyn's duel and dies at Sansa's feet as he was always nervous around her. Sweet poor kid.

Sandor's connection to Stark girls are beyond doubt. And I think people are mistaken that he will be called upon Faith to fight his undead brother in Cleganebowl. I think Gravedigger persona changed Sandor and he wants to leave his past life of violence and killing behind him. It does not mean he is a devout follower of Seven now out of sudden. I imagine he would hear of his brother becoming this creature, but ultimately he will not give a shit since he put his past life behind him.

Now, if he was met and persuaded by Arya to partake and save Sansa from Lannisters in a trial by combat against his unstoppable monster of a brother, that is another ball game. These two sisters fundamentally changed Sandor's life and gave him a new fresh look at life and had a tremendous impact on him, they showed him he can do better and be bettet, unlike his brother, who is a total monster now. I think he would want to save his "little bird" from Cersei's clutches.

I have confidence that Arya will participate in this trial as well since her arc is going in parallel with Sansa's (that is a topic for anothet day, I have too muh thoughts on that), and she is the one foreshadowed to kill Varys who is playing under cover for Aegon's team in King's Landing. If Arya infiltrates Red Keep and takes out Varys and sees a recaptured Sansa, she will hatch a plan to rescue her.

Regarding Bronn and Loras, these two I am least certain about, but both of these dudes hate Cersei, both have a connection to Gregor Clegane (one was supposed to fight him for Tyrion, Sansa's legal husband by the way who might ask him to save her and Bronn might finally prove that not everything is about money for him and he is Tyrion's friend; another would have gotten killed by Gregor if not for his brother), and both have strong storyline reasons to be at this trial. If there are two other major characters who make sense to fight in this trial, please let me know, others just slip my mind.

And no, I don't expect Jon to be a part of this team of seven, he will be, however, outside of King's Landing's wall besieging it with his army, having come to take his rightful place as a king (and a nice parallel to Stannis, who WAS a rightful king and besieged King's Landing, but failed).

There was a big mention of Cregan Stark's arrival to King's Landing and punishing traitors and ruling the realm for a day as Hand, known as "Hour of the Wolf".

I think Jon's "Hour of the Wolf" will happen in the end of the last book as well with him failing to take the city, just like previous rightful king Stannis. Cersei will burn the city, the Iron Throne and Red Keep with wildfire like Mad King wanted to do before his death.

However, Brienne will escape with Arya and Sansa and escorting them out of city to king Jon (safety) and fulfilling her oath to Catelyn.

Again, thanks to Mithras for majority of these ideas.

^^Hmm, I don't see Podrick fitting in a Trial by Combat.  He doesn't even have the skill.  However, Pod paralleling Egg by convincing someone (like Bronn) to fit for Sansa is an intriguing idea.

Some of these ideas seem a bit too... fantastical, like Jon ending up king and such.  There's just too much "theory" all happening at once here, where some/most of it will likely occur in different POVs.  But, hey it's just speculation.  I personally think that Sansa's trial will end up at Harrenhal in a sort of twisted parallel to the Tourney at Harrenhal, that is, all the lords coming together for "an event."

OT question: considering the thread is about to be locked by length, and the fact it was deleted despite it was the Seventh and Blessed (which confirms my theory of this number being actually cursed in ASOIAF (see? no totally OT)), should I name the next one seventh or skip it to the eight?

Do like Robert and make the eight :leer:

(Would it to be too douche-y to start a thread about this, btw? Like, "who are your eight?")

I'll support your right to it.

Don't know if it's worthy of a thread, but this would be my eight in the current timeline:

1) North: Val

2) Vale: Myranda Royce

3) Stormlands: Septa Lemore

4) Riverlands: Gatehouse Ami

5) Westerlands: Jeyne Westerling

6) Iron Islands: Eh, Asha is not there, so...Euron?

7) Reach: Taena Merryweather

8) Crownlands: Cersei Lannister

And just to one up Robert, I'll make 10

9) Dorne: Arianne Martell

10) Essos: Dany

Unpopular opinion time:

I dislike Cortnay Penrose. while on intellectual reason I understand his grief and anger, I find his vulgar insults to Mel and her religion gross and not badass. Everytime people quote him I cringe.

Actually, i'm indifferent to him. I had zero clues on who he was untill searching his name on AWOIAF. I don't understand what is so epic about the man.

There are so many things beginning with W in Westeros. Westeros, Wildling, Wight, White Walker, the Watch, the Wall, the Wolfswood, Warg, Winterfell, Willas, Willem, Will. Hang on, let me write a sentence with all this stuff in it...

Will watched Willem wrestle White Walker wighted Wildling wargs within Winterfell's Wolfswood whilst Willas walked the Wall with the Watch of Westeros.
