Checked out Jones vs Cormier 1, Jones vs Shogun & Jones vs Chael last night. This guy is a monster. I think I've gotta root for Cormier going into 197 cause I just want to know how the hell you beat someone like him.

I also watched Silva vs Weidman 1 & 2. I remember seeing a gif of that leg break a while back (probably around the time the fight happened). Ugh, that had me cringing like crazy. First fight was pretty funny. You've gotta feel like an absolute asshole if you get knocked out after mocking your opponent like that.

Silva was long overdue. There was mocking to get his opponents to run into his punches, which was one thing. Then there was dickish, mocking like what he did to Maia. Eventually someone would have the talent and calmness under pressure to make him pay for it.

Quick update: MMA legalisation bill has passed the NY Ways And Means committees and now will be voted on by the assembly. Previous MMA legalisation bills in NY have never made it this far. It's being debated in the assembly, my twitter timeline is full of the astounding things these pathetic shills are saying to argue against legalisation.

Daniel O'Donnell just described MMA as "gay porn with a different ending."

Angela Wozniak says MMA gym owners could be undercover sex offenders looking for a clever way to molest kids

Dear god she's right. Quick, we'd better shut down and ban all the boxing gyms, Tae Kwon Do academies, little league baseball fields and any other places these predators could be taking advantage of in the great state of New York.

So...Ariel just ended/lost his UFC on Fox gig. Speculation (shared by a fighter or two) is that it has to do with him breaking the Conor-Nate rematch story.

After their reaction to people like Brendan Schaub and Stitch Duran speaking out of turn I really wouldn't put any petty act past the UFC.

On the other hand though...this is what you have to expect when the biggest company you're reporting on is also indirectly hiring you. Can't serve two masters.

The UFC wouldn't be in the wrong at all if they fired him or drew a line in the sand regarding what they think is acceptable for a UFC on FOX employee to report/leak. The conflict of interest is all on Ariel. It's like when Dana Tweeted that the UFC pays USA Today (who owns MMA Junkie) for coverage.  Of course the UFC is going act in its own interests regarding media coverage, it's the journalists who have the onus to ethically and impartially cover the sport. It's great that Ariel made the right decision but he should have never accepted that position in the first place.

So UFC 200 has McGregor vs Diaz II, Velasquez vs Travis Browne and Mousasi vs Brunson.

3 fights I am interested in seeing. Presumably Tate will defend her belt against someone as well.

That's completely underwhelming me for an event as big as "200"

Jon Jones was arrested this morning: http://www.tmz.com/2016/03/29/jon-jones-arrested-for-probation-violation-mug-shot/

What are the chances he still fights at 197?

Considering how he seems to face no consequences? Kinda good.

Considering that this may be the justice system finally wising up? Kinda bad.

All in all: I have no idea. But it is hilarious how he's always in trouble.

Consequences for what? His charges are bullshit. The reason he was cited for "drag racing" is that he was revving his engine at a fan at a traffic light. If you watch the video of the stop the cop doesn't even allege that he broke the speed limit, the cop is basically just an asshole harassing him and trying to find any possible way to cite him.

I had just seen a bit of the transcript of their confrontation at the time.

That said, probably wouldn't stop cops from coming after him for "getting away" (though he's clearly on probation) for his other accident. Jones himself alleges this iirc.

UFC 200 fights are official: Nate vs Conor at 170, Aldo vs Edgar for the 145 interim belt.

What a bizarre world we live in where there's an interim belt because the active champion fighting on the same card won't defend his belt.

Ew.

It was one thing when there was an excuse with both Aldo and Edgar being potentially injured. Now it's just...eww.

And at WW again...gross.

"After the fight, Lorenzo [Fertitta] and I went up to Conor's house that he's renting here in Las Vegas and started talking...And he was obsessed, obsessed with fighting Nate Diaz again," White said (h/t MMAJunkie.com for the transcription).

"Obviously, Lorenzo and I tried to argue with him and say, 'Let's go back down to '45 and defend your title, or if you really want the Diaz fight that bad, do it at '55.' But he wants to fight at 170. Even his coach, [John] Kavanagh, tried to get him to get off this rematch and off the 170-pound fight, but it’s what he wanted. And he’s going to get it." ESPN's Brett Okamoto also referenced White's comments regarding his conversation with McGregor:

Yikes, it's like all the jokes came true.
