Astromech
Only two episodes in but enjoyed those two. Tench and Ford are a great pairing. The only issue I had was Spoiler Ford's naivete for an FBI Agent. But that also is why his pairing with Tench works so well, imo. Kemper was fantastic. Best scenes so far were with him. KiDisaster
The rapid-fire, wise-cracking dialogue in the opening episode was off putting. Reminded me of a Kevin Smith movie. I like Kevin Smith, but that sort of thing doesn't work so well outside comedy for me. It felt like they were rushing to get a whole ton of exposition done in the first episode and none of the lines had any weight to them. Less of an issue after the first episode, but a lot of the dialogue still feels rushed to me. Also there's a moment in episode 3 or 4 where Ford & Tench go to a prison to talk to a new 'subject' and wait until they're already there and out of the car to discuss who the guy is/why they're there and bring the audience up to speed Usual TV stuff but it really stuck out for some reason and felt very forced. Kemper's scenes have really stolen the show though. I'm on episode 5 or 6 now and enjoying it overall.
Ramsay B.
I'm 2 episodes in and enjoying it. I've read up on Kemper and listened to some podcasts about him fairly recently so all his depravity is still fresh in my mind. His scenes have been the best so far. Anyway, question for the US members familiar with famous serial killers.Who's the wannabe serial killer dude they kept showing during the episodes? I'm assuming he's based on a real person? That'd be Dennis Rader. The BTK Killer. I haven't finished the series yet so I was assuming it would lead to the protagonists trying to track him down. Is that not the case? Astromech
I was wondering who that was supposed to be making a stink out of the rules as the ADT employee refusing to replace his coworker's tape. It's the only scene I've seen him in so far, so suppose more of a keep watching for myself.
Zorral
So many of the reviews have said the first episode is long-winded and dull. How in the world? They must have seen a different first ep than I did ... particularly with linking of this kind of strangers killing strangers line of investigation, and how murder had changed since Nixon and Vietnam ... speculation about psychopathology on the rise -- and even, how billionaires, politicians, Hollywood moguls -- tend to be sociopaths who work out their pathologies in modes that are socially acceptable, rather than murder. Woo! this isn't something one sees / hears on television or anywhere in the media, and yet feels more than contemporary, right? So everything about that first episode hooked me, when I didn't expect to even make it through and was just looking at it to look. I watched the first three, back-to-back, bang bang bang. So far, so very good.
kairparavel
So the college post-grad in episode one is the daughter of everyone's favourite television Mountie.

Zorral
I'm not sure I understood the ending of the final episode. Which I guess is a question, "Where is this going to go in season 2?" Holden's character isn't getting improved by this project, it seems -- or at least so the people around him think, it seems. I dunno.
Ran
Started watching... and I totally hit a wall with the absolutely horrid dialog that starts from Ford talking to Rathman all the way through the bar scene with Debbie. Does this improve?

I'm almost done with it and enjoying it, but I was definitely shaky after the 1st episode. Obviously there were interesting aspects as you mentioned but overall it was easily one of the weakest episodes for me. It just seemed like it was trying too hard at times. ETA: It does get better. Later on, the characters are asked at least twice by others, whether violent media (that's not the term used by the inquirers, exactly -- it's more on the order if watching murders and violent porn) is a stresser (another term the researchers are using) for acting out in these horrific violent acts. It's very fast, very tentative, it's hardly there at all.

Does this improve? I had the same problem with the dialogue in the first episode. I'm not sure if it actually improved in subsequent episodes or if I just got used to it, but it's no longer bugging me. The rapid fire quipping is just so fucking weird. The exposition remains pretty heavy handed throughout though.

Astromech
Ford and Debbie's scenes together were the weakest part of the series for me. Carr and Tench were the best part of the series after the interview scenes. I was really hoping for more of Tench and Carr and less of Ford. The direction from Filcher was excellent, but I wasn't a fan of the ending of the series. Spoiler Didn't really care for Ford's breakdown when he realizes he is so similar to the subjects he's studying, but the audience could really see it happening all along. It seemed the audience was privy to an analysis of Ford's psyche while he was busy analyzing serial killers. I realize what the showrunners were going for, but would've preferred Ford remaining unaware or in denial of his own similarities.
