Was Maester Luwin at Riverrun to deliver Robb?

Cat could well have misspoken: it is easy to say 'all my children' but 'four of my five children' is a mouthful.

None of the characters present would have felt the need to challenge it - they all know the truth of which children he delivered - and the statement got across her intended point that Luwin would not be shocked by her naked body.

For the the first time reader the statement established that Luwin had served the Starks for years and was knowledgeable and trusted. It was possibly also intended as an early lesson that this is  not a story where characters always speak in unrealistic and awkward exposition - training the reader to not believe every word of dialogue literally as it is written.

If that would be the case it would be another case of the sadly underutilized Rashomon effect that could perfectly sinergize with the POV chapters format

The Maester of Winterfell during Roberts Rebellion was Walys Flowers... we don't know what happened to him.

If Luwin was at Riverrun, and helped deliver Rob, it doesn't seem inconceivable to me that he was assigned to Winterfell as the replacement, since he had an established relationship with Cat and could have traveled north with her.

We also don't know when Walys stopped being the maester at Winterfell. He was not necessarily at Winterfell during the Robellion.

So Cat says that Luwin delivered all her children, bu wasn't Robb born at Riverrun? And aren't Maesters sworn to their castles? So did Luwin teleport to RIverrun to deliver Robb?

Maester Vyman is pretty old when we meet him at the end of Game, so it's a good bet that he's been the head maester at Riverrun for some time. Lewin would have been his junior during the rebellion, either assisting in Robb's delivery or taking the lead if Vyman was incapacitated for some reason.

With Robb as an infant leaving for Winterfell, it makes sense to send a maester along for the journey, and then Lewin would have stepped into the top slot at Winterfell at Walys' demise.

I recall it as he was the Maester at River Run. They waited till she birthed Rob and he traveled with her to Winterfell. Where he took up the position. But he seems to have a “tell” whenever he lies. Fiddles with his chain as if grows in weight at the slightest deception. If that applies or is accurate...

I'm going to keep an eye out for that on my next re-read. Could give some good insight.

I thought the same as others, that he came to Winterfell with Cat. Could the Winterfell Maester have passed, I do like the Barbrey option @Angel Eyes mentioned, and as the new replacement perhaps he was sent to Riverrun to attend her and help escort her to Winterfell? Seems like the simplest explanation.

But this does matter. I'm gonna go through all his appearances till his death in the books to find out all his possible lies.

I’ve been meaning to reread him on after his bite from shaggy dog? Or was it summer? Thing that always bothered me was his valerian link. Who’s forging these valerian steel links? Are they new or reforged? Does the citadel have a stockpile? Anyway I’ll post anything significant here.
