Rockroi
Yeah. I distinctly remember there being a celebration of more than 1-2 guys and was willing to let Shula slide with that small fib. Again, what do you expect him to say? "Yeah, frankly, we love watching the last undefeated team go down in flames. Sure, it usually happens early on- 5-0, 6-0, but then you have years like when the Giants and 49'ers were each undefeated after 9 weeks. But thsoe are the best- you get to watch the team lose and get that "What is happening" look in their eyes. Its really great. I call 30-40 people minimum when this happens. Now with TiVo I an relive it all over and over again." "For years the most special moment was in 1985 when the Dolphins actually were the ones to stop a major threat: the Bears were 12-0. I was coaching at the time; nah, who am I kidding? I was watchinmg Dan Marino just throw the ball. Anyway, being able to stop that streak myself was the most enjopyment I ever got. The guys from 72, many were at that game and they hugged me and thanked me for keeping their pathetic existance going. I had to give Zsonka a few bucks for a cab, but that was okay. he tells me he's "good" for it. The Bears were so bullshit after the game; that McMahon guy was such a putz. HAHA!! I laugh just thinking about it." "But, frankly for my money, nothing will top the Colts two years ago when they started off 13-0 and EVERYONE was saying this was the year. I watched it and Peyton made the "Manning Face" like 12 times. I laughed like a small child for, oh, I don't know, a week, two weeks. It was something. After the game, the whole team had that "dear in headlights" look. Priceless. Utterly priceless." "But this season? I mean, we're a little gittery, I mean the Pats are playing great and all, but their run defense is supect, and ... oh, who am I kidding? I think they are gonna run the table. Fuck them! They cheated! I hate the fact that this team will overcome my team's accomplishments..." "You know what? On second thought, don't print any of that. Just say that I think the Pats are tainted (like that word) for Spygate, my grandson told me what it was. Yeah. Say that because of what they did it calls everything into question. And forget all that other stuiff. And say something like, "They don't need to cheat." "Now, if you'll excuse me, my tapioca is ready."
Swordfish
Weren't you saying it didn't matter to you how much people cared about this? If that's the case, why are you still whining about it like there's sand in your pussy?
Stego
It's funny that no one remembers Shula tampering with Baltimore players and losing a first round draft pick for it. the 72 undefeated season should have an asterisk next to it.

I saw a bald, squatty guy at Barnes and Noble the other day with a pen and a pile of 2008 NFL Record and Facts books sitting in front of him. He was escorted out by security after being caught jotting small marks down on the Dolphins section of every copy. Was that you, buddy?

Space Bandito
According to ESPN Henry had an altercation with a parking attendant already? I'm still not sure how this "tougher" policy on players, and some coaches is going to work in the long run. Yet it seems some just don't get it. I don't see Pac Man ever playing in the NFL again. However with the way QB's are playing now, Vick would have a job if he stays healthy and clean.
CelticBrennus
Saw a great bit on a Pats message board. It was a minor argument. It was unnecessary to print up but since it's Henry, it's news.

Well, he is certaintly that. But so are a lot of players in the NFL. It wasn't illegal so I don't see the problem. I bet he gets suspended for not being nice. I bet he gets suspended for not being nice. While he shouldn't be, you may be right. The only thing I can think of when I see stuff like this is from the movie Liar Liar when Jim Carrey's lawyer character is talking to one of his repeat offender clients and gets asked "what do I need to do to stay out of jail?" Response: "Stop breaking the law, asshole!!" There's no law against being a dick, but man, you'd think Henry (and others, not just singling him out) would figure out that if they do anything it is going to be news, especially acting like this. In other news, Mr Shula is backpeddling on his "asterisk" comments and now is saying that if they run the table there shouldn't be any asterisk and that they should be considered the best team. Guess he just isn't getting enough attention from the Nutrisystem (or whichever diet fad) commercials he is doing.

I think the main difference is that Henry is not asking (nor considering) "how do I stay out of" trouole (a la, Liar Liar). I don't think Henry cares if he's in the news, and thus, has no inclination to change his behavior. To henry, he has ALWAYS been in the news, and fights with parking attendants are part of that. And he also has a foll-proof excuse: "Hey, I didn't break the law; no law says I can't be a complete jerk." And he's be right. While it may grate on Goodal that Henry got into an altercation, I doubt it could be used to extend his supention. In other news, Mr Shula is backpeddling on his "asterisk" comments and now is saying that if they run the table there shouldn't be any asterisk and that they should be considered the best team. He had to. Again, you would think that somebody as traveled as Shula would have been more well-versed in how to deal with the media, but he flubbed this one and is trying to make up for it. He had his reasons, but you just do not say that about another coach or team. Don should have known better. And, again, it could all be a moot point: the Pats are not guarenteed anything and teams taht have looked almost as good have lost games to teams worse than some of the teams left on the Pats' schedule.
