Old Man River
Good lord! He's a famous British Blues guitar player! No wonder he's got such a great crazy eye. If you listen to him sing though you can see why they gave him the roll of a mute. Best of luck to you Ser.

Ser Desmond Wine's Bane
However it had become apparent in recent months that the cancer was not as aggressive as first thought, Fantastic news. I wish him the best with the surgery.
Travy1991
Oh fingers crossed that he'll be able to overcome this and live for many more years. This is a really nice twist in fate. Hopefully the surgery will go well.

The hairy bear
Great news. I love his positive attitude and the fact that he is not surrendering.
P. frontalis chiripepe
Good for him. The procedure he had is called a Whipple procedure. If his cancer was of a less aggressive type, there is actually potential for very long term survival.
Seneti
Wow, this is really surprising! When I read this thread title, I was kind of afraid to click because I was afraid it would be bad news. Glad I was wrong. My best wishes to him. May the surgery be a full success and his life long and full of joy!

Konradsmith
Someone on wicnet said the tumour was removed successfully. I can't paste links but I'm sure someone will post it here eventually. I don't know if that means he'll come back to the show and it doesn't mean it will be smooth sailing from here on out for him (pancreatic is a really nasty cancer) but for the moment, that's very good news. Frances Bean Corbray
This is wonderful news and a pleasant surprise, since I've always understood it as Pancreatic Cancer = Death Sentence. He's already outlived the life expectancy of his initial diagnosis, from what I understand, which is of course fantastic.
Konradsmith
One can only hope he'll return to the show again for at least a few more scenes. I doubt the unsullied even remember the name Ilyn Payne (though it has been said plenty of times), but it would still be a good note for the show's continuity and for Wilko to say, "Goddamn it, I'm still here!"
