  1. Dune Sisterhood is filming btw, so we're due that next year as well it looks like.
  2. Sure, you can argue that the sales success will be even greater with the actors doing interviews. It just seemed unlikely that they would still pull this movie so close to its release date and having promised it to their audience as a November release for so long. And obviously this is a film that would sell in massive numbers even without that promotion. This is a move that hurts everybody except Warner Bros, especially the theaters who need a big tentpole release towards the end of the year and the audience that's been waiting 2 years already. As for the strike, from what I have been reading on it and listening to some podcasts, the demands are fair and the studio's didnt want to give them anything worthwhile. They are ruthless. And these kind of shit moves show that they really care about nothing except the dollar income.
  3. Its a total dick move by the studio of course. Over the past few weeks as this was speculated about, many good reasons have been given for why delaying the movie is a terrible idea. It seemed that with the release of a new trailer and no word on this, we were safe from their shenanigans. But nope, here we are, 2 months before the release they still pull it. This week there was even an interview with the director of IMAX who said that this movie was very unlikely to be pulled because "it was out of the gate already" As usual they dont give a shit about the fans, or the audience in general. Their reasons are twofold, first they claim it has to do with the actors strike, so that there is no actor promotion, which as has been pointed out by PG, is very dodgy. Secondly I think they do this to raise the public's sentiment against the actor's striking, making it out to be their fault that this very highly anticipated film is not coming out. It does look like these Hollywood studio's are every bit as nasty as the guild has claimed. Very disappointing.
  4. Well I have The Last Wish but didnt find it very interesting , would only consider Sword of Destiny if its a step up.
  5. I still ordered Time of Contempt, Baptism of Fire and Lady of the Lake in some lovely new Orbit hardbacks, excited to get started on this ( already have Blood of Elves).
  6. What about Merlin or Arthur, do they appear in some guise, either as an obvious character or as then pretending to be someone?
  7. Question for those who read it, it seems the later volumes start digging into Arthurian Legend a lot more, with Lady of the Lake, Nimue a significant character. Does this happen in Tower of Swallows as well? Anyways my main question is if he introduces Merlin or Arthur into the story? I know the first chapter features Galahad.
  8. No that doesnt mean anything, it just means that Amazon is aware of 7 volumes and that this the last of those
  9. New Murderbot novel is up on Amazon for November. https://www.amazon.com/System-Collapse-Murderbot-Diaries-8/dp/1250826977/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3CT1WV9D3WEBR&keywords=Martha+wells&qid=1690837562&s=books&sprefix=martha+wells%2Cstripbooks-intl-ship%2C230&sr=1-3
  10. Per the last update he seems to hope he will be finished by year's end, which would allow for the book to be out late next year. Its taken quite a while this one, and not done yet obviously, but it sounds like it might be a great novel.
  11. Giving those a look as the second and third one in that first trilogy seem quite interesting, book 2 has the Emperor send him and Darth Vader off together on a " quest" .
  12. This looks awful, and so does Blue Beetle. Maybe Aquaman 2 will be worth watching.
  13. I am wondering if there has been any updates posted for her Patreon readers on how things have progressed and if the book is close?
  14. Was a good tournament in Holland. Giri the winner, after many second places. Carlsen recovered from a slow start, Abdusattorov the revelation of the tournament.
  15. I do think that sells short his performances. He certainly played Nadal throughout Nadal's entire prime, and a part of Federer's prime as well. He was overwhelmingly the best player at this Aussie Open. It was a guarantee he would win the quarter final, you never doubted he would beat Paul or Tsitsipas. When Alcaraz withdrew his main challenger was out. On top of that Korda, who looked so strong so far, got injured. When Medvedev lost I knew his last challenger was gone.
  16. Definitely very interesting. Korda had a superb run up to the tournament and very narrowly lost to Djokovic in the Adelaide final where he had the best play really. Now he has continued that and just ejected Medveded, and Hurkacz as well ( who unfortunately beat Shapo in 5, too solid I guess). De Minaur has been in great form, might make it hard on Djokovic. Ben Shelton vs JJ Wolf, 2 young Americans. Sinner just knocked out in 5 sets by Tsitsipas. Holger Rune, co-sensation of 2022 with Alcaraz, is still in the tournament. Forgot to mention Tommy Paul, very attractive style of play on him, have been watching his game the last 2 years.
  17. It does seem that there is now constantly something plaguing him, if its not one thing its another. Always hard to say if something will be the final year or not, but it does seem his best days are now behind him.
  18. I thought it had a lot of things going for it. Mainly that it really is a wonderful visual experience. I definitely prefer the first one, I just prefer the setting. I did like everything they did with the water tribes, the Tulkan, their water animals, it was all very well done, but though the story is decent, I was more compelled in the first one. On a sidenote I really liked the use of the mechas in Avatar 1 and was disappointed that they didnt feature here except for in the opening shot.
  19. While its a shame Cavill is not returning as Superman, it is interesting that Gunn has been writing a new Superman film. Fact that he is mentioning that already might mean thats first to be released ( though not before late 2024 at the earliest I suspect).
  20. Maybe the Amazon series might be the Eisenhorn series they announced years ago. Cavill would be interesting as the lead in that. Then again you would think this is a separate show from that considering this is all new rumors and they announced Eisenhorn so long ago, but there has really been zero updates on that from Games Workshop the last 3 years.
  21. Is anything known about what this film will be about?
  22. It is similar to the Silmarillion/Unfinished Tales and very interesting in my opinion. Definitely paints a picture of the Second Age in detail. Its very much a chronology and nothing like a novel like LoTR.
  23. Definitely watching this and the Amazon Fallout show that will be released next year.
