  1. I believe that's technically correct, they're part of the Federation's intelligence apparatus whereas Starfleet's the military.
  2. You can resolve that by assuming the activation signal was local to Sector 001 rather than quadrant/galaxy-wide. There are reasons why they waited until the fleet was all in one place on Frontier Day to do this, and this could easily be one of them. Now, we know that Tuvok will be in the finale next week (Tim Russ' Twitter said he was in two episodes), so what's the betting that Admiral Janeway also shows up? She's already been mentioned as being involved in the Frontier Day preparations so should we be expecting her to be on the Spacedock while the fleet's attacking it?
  3. Correct, but use Wookieepedia rather than IMDB to see how he looks in the show. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Gilad_Pellaeon
  4. Great casting for Pellaeon, he looks exactly like I expected him to.
  5. I don't think so - I think many of the people who survive Stormlight 5 are expected to still be around in Stormlight 6. But there's also going to be a time gap in terms of release - the gap between those two books is going to be larger than for previous releases in the series and he's going to take some time to write books elsewhere in the cosmere, which are rumoured to be sequels for Elantris and possibly Warbreaker.
  6. Wait until Sweden joins. Erdogan's still holding that one up.
  7. Is there a list somewhere of what all the artifacts inside Daystrom were?
  8. I'd expect it will, given how that feeds into their relationship at the start of Part II

  10. Can't really see Cavill as Eisenhorn - he'd fit more as a Commissar Gaunt or Cain.
  11. Mild spoiler for interaction between The Lost Metal and The Emperor's Soul
  12. It's pretty standard Sanderson, mainly, so if you like his other stuff (especially the previous Wax & Wayne books) you'll like this. It does get more into cosmere stuff but I don't think you'll lose anything if you haven't read any non-Mistborn novels. (The particular short stories/novellas/whatever relevant to The Lost Metal are Mistborn: Secret History and The Emperor's Soul).
  13. I came to ask if anyone had made this pun yet, but since the old thread's past 20 pages I'll do it myself.
  14. They'll have to change something - part of that five minutes is because they've both got connections to Rand, and show-Elayne hasn't met him yet.
  15. It’s not really possible to compare greats in one sort with those in another simply because of how different each sport is, but for me Bradman stands out because his stats not only eclipse all his contemporaries but in 74 years since his retirement no one else has come anywhere near (the next best after his 99.94 is 61.87, and there’s only four more above 60)
  16. Midnight Friday UK time (which would be 8pm Thursday on the US east coast)
  17. I thought that was more the emotional baggage of it being her friend - she had no problem with popping supe heads at the Congressional hearing in the S2 finale.
  18. The Thirty Worlds seemed pretty clear to me as just the 30 that had re-connected prior to this attempt to contact Earth, and not the whole of humanity.
  19. I can understand that, and if there was more than one season left I can see that they might have done it, but part of the success of the Expanse show is how well all the actors have made the characters there own - a new actor would be constantly in Anvar's shadow and wouldn't have long enough to pull away from that comparison. (Unlike, say, Donal Finn taking over as Mat in Wheel of Time - Barney Harris may be the best actor of the Two Rivers lads in Season 1, but with only one season the shadow he casts isn't nearly as large as any of The Expanse's actors would be).
  20. I'm sure the showrunners would have liked to keep that character around, but when the actor gets the kind of accusations he got, reputational concerns supersede creative ones and he had to go. But the success of the show's divergences so far (such as Ashford and Drummer as you mentioned) mean I trust them to handle this one as well.
  21. The most unreliable narrator ever. Which reminds me I need to reread it now that I actually know what's going on.
  22. That sub-plot would be great to see actually play out. Was Takashima meant to be a traitor to the Earth Alliance in general, or was she someone who was already part of (Vice-)President Clark's conspiracy, and would have spent Season 1 destabilising the station prior to Santiago's assassination in order to then try and take command as a Clark loyalist?
