(Book Spoilers) Speculating on events at the wall

1. Yes to all you've said about ACOK's prologue, I could just talk about it forever! I've read it so many times. Cressen breaks my heart.

2. Asha and Theon are amongst my faves too. Their ADWD chapters are hard to read in different ways, but equally compelling.

ADWD seems to come in for a lot of criticism but I do enjoy the change of scene from KL (and I am a KL fan, it's just we got so MUCH of it in the previous books). And then the Theon chapter in TWOW is actually my third favourite chapter in the series. Stannis seems to be in such a bad place at the end of ADWD and there is such a contrast in TWOW when he's just putting everyone in their place.

Couldn't agree more with everything!

ADWD has actually the most of my favourite chapters; especially...

- "Davos III" and "Davos IV" (okay, I admit, every Davos chapter is actually a favourite of mine :P), although "Davos II" has a very small, Imo, very sad moment I love, when he looks into a fire and thinks that The Red Woman can see the future in the flames, but he sees there only his past and the burning ships, the lost battle, his dead sons...

- also every Reek/Theon chapter (I consider them to be some of the best GRRM has ever written); especially "A Ghost in Winterfell", not only because of the awesome quote in my signature, the Theon scene at the weirwood tree was the most heartbreaking moment for me in ASOIAF (I love the line "There are ghosts in Winterfell, and I am one of them") and when he thinks about how his blood could soak in the tree, boah man, this chapter!

Oh, and "Reek III", because of all the Roose/Ramsay and Roose/Reek conversations, I was fascinated by them.

- and definitely "The King's Prize" and "The Sacrifice", because there are very few things I appreciate so much as the dynamic between queen's men / Stark vassals / Clanmen / Asha / Stannis, I wish we had get more chapters of the Death March...And I'll never forget Asha's and Theon's reunion and the moment when she realizes who Reek is...

- every Jon chapter with Stannis, and then also many chapters without Stannis (simillar to Asha's POV, the dynamic between Crows / Wildlings / Selyse's court / Alys / Mel / Jon / aso. was I thing I loved the most in ADWD).

And about TWOW:

- Theon's sample chapter was one of the best overall! Not only because it's Theon + Stannis, I adore the Stannis we see there, so self-confident and confident of this victory and how he handles the situations with the Karstarks and the Maester, he has everything under control and all his famous badass lines about his past victories and his fearlessness; he's for his standards in a pretty good mood in this chapter, despite their bad situation! We also see that he's a character who can handle power very well and he really shows his justice (e.g. when it comes to Karstarks' men or fArya) and you think the whole time: "Wow, this guy has a plan! He believes in his cause and his victory, he HAS to win!"). You're right, the contrast between him at the end of Dance and then at the beginning of Winds is really stark!

ASOS and ACOK have still my maybe 4 most favourite chapters or moments:

- ACOK: "Prologue" and "Catelyn III" (with Stannis' and Renly's parley)

- ASOS: "Davos IV" (When Stannis makes Davos his Hand and their talk about blood/brother vs. king/liege lord) and "Jon XI" (the Stannis/Jon/Mel talk on the Wall, dunno why, but love this chapter, one reason is definetely his super-famous line)

it's one of those "how dare you come here" by some underling who pulls a knife on Jon and then Mance tells him to stand down to have a chat

I think the story at the wall will end with the charge, the chance of them showing Stannis at all is 50/50

I think it'll be the Lord of Bones who finds him and escorts him to Mance. He's the only other recognisable wildling that's still north of the wall.

The third reek chapter may be the best one in the series, from the ramsay reek game of catch with a human head, roose arriving while ramsay and his goons are partying like its 1999. the ramsay roose conversation and the roose reek conversation. Man what a great chapter.

^Represent. Our blades are sharp and our Rooses be loose.

 (I feel like a traitor for being a StanStan AND loving Roose... but It's more appreciating him as villain, being fascinated and enjoyed by him, but still wanting to see him dead; but not before a Roose/Stannis showdown!)

I actually felt a bit ashamed during reading because I had to laugh so often about Roose and the guy makes fun about rape ("Don't make me rue the day I raped your mother" and "The fox escaped as well, and on our way back to the dreadfort my favorite courser came up lame, so all in all it was a dismal day") or explains that human skin is bad material for boots :uhoh: ... But I still could resist to laugh!

I also loved the things he learned Ramsay (or Reek), such as:

"Fear is what keeps a man alive in this world of treachery and deceit."

"Power tastes best when sweetened by courtesy."

"You are mistaken. It is not good. No tales were ever told of me. Do you think I would be sitting here if it were otherwise? Your amusements are your own, I will not chide you on that count, but you must be more discreet. A peaceful land, a quiet people. That has always been my rule. Make it yours."

Hach, Ramsay should follow his father's advices more; I hope the next time Roose will teach him something about perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1xxqPE4I4g&feature=kp

I think ramsay and Jon are destined to get into a confrontation so I think he makes it for a little while after.

Here's an excerpt Kit's interview with Variety:

"...Obviously, I’ve read the episode. It’s a big action-packed episode. There’s a lot happens in it that leaves people wanting more, and that’s what we want, people coming back to season five. It doesn’t wrap things up in the same way that the last few episodes of last few seasons have. It leaves a lot open. I’m excited to see it. It’s one of my favorite episodes I’ve ever done.” http://variety.com/2014/tv/vpage/kit-harington-game-of-thrones-season-4-finale-1201218842/

I'm thinking several cliffhangers and LS reveal

Aye it does. And I'm almost certain now there'll be more scenes on the Wall.

I would love that. It would be nice to see Jon as LC before it ended, but I will take what we get and know that it will happen eventually XD

I don't think it will end with LC elections but with Jon being offered Winterfell.

What will be the "cold" thing that he does that Kit described then? I'd presumed that would be declining the offer of Winterfell and accepting leadership over his family. But yeah, time constraints and all, that could be shoved into s5.

That doesn't sound "cold". Cold, to me, would be "the block".

It could be going under the guise of truce to kill a man when you know it means your death, too. Seems pretty cold to me.
