Season 5 casting - v. 4 [Spoilers]

By the way, someone said a few pages before about forgotten characters... Everybody seems to be missing Arianne, the Greyjoy brothers, and so do I. But one cut that really pissed me off was Moqorro. He is very mysterious and I think he would be great do TV! It's really a shame we won't be getting him... I really think he is awesome.

The "Willas-effect" wasn't even close to what's going on now. I remember a few people bitching back then, but now we have much more - and that's because Arianne, Victarion, Euron, fAegon, Quentyn, Stoneheart are actual major characters that do contribute to the plot somehow, and most of us expected to see them on screen. I agree that Willas wasn't necessary (we haven't even seen him on the books, people!), but he cannot be compared to the others I mentioned.

Just because they weren't in the casting video dos not mean they're cut.

There will be smaller casting announcements between now and November, probably taking the form of James Hibberd articles for EW like he did for Styr and Hizdahr last year. Since Gemma Whelan seems to have some sort of contract that required her to be in s3 and 4, seeing her again would mean we get some Greyjoy action. Who would make the cut we can't say yet. The show can't afford to expand the cast of characters as much as GrrM did in AFFC and ADWD however, which may be for the best. It will mean that the show actually wraps up with a deadline.

I didn't mean they're cut for sure, althought things don't look good for them. But what I meant is that people that are mad (or saying they're going to be mad) about them being cut actually have a reason for it, as they had plenty of pages to develop a feeling towards the characters. Willas, on the other hand, was barely mentioned, and the series doesn't really need to keep every single detail of the books on it.

I see what you mean, and I agree with that. Even though I wished to see all of the characters I mentioned on TV, it is understandable.

I mean, come on, Moqorro healing Victarion's arm would have been pretty badass. Also his predictions are creepy as hell. The series might see him as minor, and I'm okay with that... but a man can dream :(

It looks like she's cut, Cas Stark, though they could bring her in for s6 and say she'd been staying elsewhere. They did say Trystane was the heir in their press release though, so that pretty much confirms what many suspected.

I think Dany may get one mystical advisor, Paid Debt Lannister but not Quaithe, Morqorro AND Marwyn. I wonder how Grrm will even handle that in the books. Unless the Battle of Fire takes a lot more characters lives than it seems to be shaping up to, her storylines may be crowded as fuck in TWOW.

I didn't put that much store in the heir thing...they could think the audience is too stupid to understand a different inheritance standard. But, there is no sense in holding off on Arianne while introducing the sand snakes that I can see. I could see holding off on Aegon...but not her, she's Doran's daughter, they're doing a big Dorne thing...so if she's not in this year then she is out. And that to me says a lot about what is going to turn out to be fairly irrelevant in the books.

But, even with that said, I still find it a strange choice, why not keep her in since she's a POV and give her something different to do? Unless GRRM kills her off quite soon.

Oh well, the author apparently doesn't care about the show changes so why should I? LOL.

I don't know what the reasons of the people who complained about the omission of Willas are, but I can think of some legitimate reasons to complain about his omission, which are not about Willas himself but the way the omission affected some of the major characters. I do think that swapping Willas for Loras as the guy Sansa was supposed to marry - and looking forward to marrying - greatly affected the presentation and perception of Sansa's character and her motives in season 3, together with a bunch of other changes that negatively affected her storyline that season.

Also, quite a few people have remarked that cutting both Willas and Garlan and making Loras Mace's heir changes the Tyrell family dynamic and greatly affects Loras (though the show has changed him completely anyway) and also makes little sense in the context of the Tyrells being this ambitious family looking to take over... In the books, they don't have reasons to worry about their line being continued, but in the show? Realistically, they would be making Loras marry and have children no matter what. And are they even going to let him join the KG?

At Comic Con, Cas Stark, Grrm said that the Sand Snakes will cause a lot of trouble in TWOW. I doubt their inclusion in the show is as shallow as people have suggested. People saying that Dorne should be called "Porne" in the show are really overestimating how much sex there will be actually be there.

The Arianne cutting is strange, yes, and it could indicate any number of things. One thing that this all seems to mean is that Trystane will be more important than a lot of us have predicted.

Konradsmith, I already see show Quaithe as out of the picture. I don't see them bringing her back from the depths of their season 2 Qarth arc even if she is crucial to the endgame (and I think she is).

But I also don't think we getting Moqorro if we don't get Victarion... That would be a shame, I think GRRM really wasted some time on this character. His travels with Tyrion, the 10-day gap on the ocean and then the trip with Victarion are all a build to a character that's probably going to do something. But without Vic, I believe he is cut.

As for Marwyn, until now he hasn't even be seen on the books, so I'll try not to say anything about him. But since we don't know yet if Oldtown and the maesters will be featured on the show, he may also be cut, and we won't be seeing any of these three.

Porne, really? I didn't see anyone saying that, but people really are creative!

Or not. He could be another version of "Talisa" only this time he has the same name, same family relationship but does totally different stuff than what his book self does. Who knows. I don't even care anymore. GRRM doesn't care, why should I? Two different canons, so, it's all good. LMAO.

I hope you don't think they won't have multiple scenes set in a Dorne brothel? Because they will.

There's been quite a lot of Dorne casting info released and thus far none has had anything to do with prostitutes. Tyene will get naked but the other Snakes won't.

We know there will be a Meereen brothel though. Watchersonthewall.com (where wicnet's founding writers fled to after the Fansided purge) told us that today. But that seems to be only for the sake of the Stalwart Shield storyline, so it will lead up to a plot point.

Have they in the past released the names of the actresses who are cast as the various whores in LF brothel in advance? Aren't those mostly glorified extras who have either no lines or one or two lines? Why would they announce that level of casting?

The girls tweet about it. If they're actresses their CVs will list them. If they're porn girls they'll just tweet. You're right though, we'll probably get news about that sort of casting in the new months.

I guess its plausible that Ellaria's base of operations would be a brothel, given where she and Oberyn hung out last scene. The Sand Snakes however will have a helluva lot more to do than be sexy.

They did with Myranda and the matron at Mole's Town.

When the first scene of a character is her taking her clothes off, it's quite... troubling to expect more. Not to mention Oberyn's scenes in KL were mainly about sex in brothels. I'm pretty sure the Pornish Plot will be more or less about that.

I'm still holding out hope for Arianne, though It's probably useless.

It's not only that it's Tyene's first scene. It's that is ridiculously forced:

"Whaaa, I'm not pretty? <takes off clothes while a man is dying in front of her>. Now I'm pretty?"

Nonsense.
