[Book Spoilers] E10 Preview - possible developments

Recommended Posts

I'd like to discuss what will happen in the final episode, based on the preview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EWFpo37qAU

1st scene: maybe Dany's perspective when flying on Drogon, but IMO the landscape doesn't fit for the area around Meereen; looks more like the North, but it also doesn't fit since there is no snow...

2nd scene: Tyrion, Daario and Jorah do not quite know what to do in Meereen with Dany left. Tyrion seems to oppose Jorah in some matter ("You betrayed her") - I can't imagine what they will do, since there seems to be no battle in the near future - but I guess that the remaining two dragons will be released.

3rd scene: it's a bit late, but Jon will send Sam to Oldtown this episode. Sam's question ("What you gonna do?") might also be related to Davos' request for support - I think Jon will grant Stannis food and other supplys and this will be seen as oathbreaking (neutrality of the NW) that will lead to the FTW (this means: I don't think there will be a Pink Letter).

4th scene: Cersei - there will be much of King's Landing in this episode: Cersei will confess and feign some remorse - WoS - a glimpse of Robert Strong - Margaery and Loras will also be set free, because Olyvar will withdraw his accusations on Littlefinger's orders. I'm not sure if Varys kills Kevan at the end (so far he wasn't important enough in the show), but maybe he kills someone else...

I don't yet know who says the "We don't choose whom we love" - does anybody know?

5th scene: the sacrifice of Shireen brings the intended effect - Stannis can march on Winterfell and he besieges it, but I don't believe that the battle will take place in this season.

6th scene: I agree to the view that Arya will kill Trant (see Mercy-chapter), maybe she will also kill the Thin Man, but she cannot fool Jaquen, and she will be blinded afterwards for disobeying his orders and for not beeing no one.

7th scene: Brienne and Pod will have some part in rescuing Sansa - but it will be strange and artificial.

8th scene: Sansa and Theon will get out of Winterfell somehow, and since Stannis is already ante portas it is likely that they will be found by him - but I think that Brienne will also play a part in this escape, so maybe she will try to kill Stannis afterwards? That would be satisfying for the audience after episode 9 - but maybe Littlefinger and the knights of the Vale also arrive - to whichever end this will lead....

in this scene Sansa looks a bit LSHish with this hood....

I'm not sure if there will be another Dany-scene, but if there is one, we will see her encounter with the Dothraki.

no more Dorne... Doran's fire and blood speech (with Trystane to be married with Dany) would not make any sense after Trystane's official engagement with Myrcella now. and I also don't believe that Trystane=Aegon.

will we see the death of Balon Greyjoy? I don't think there is enough time, but it will happen at the beginning of season 6.

I don't think anything more will happen in Mereen this season. With no Quentyn, Barristan or Yunkai armies it doesn't serve much point to release the Dragons. No Victarion either to steal a Dragon.

So the sacrifice work. Thats quite horrifying. It looks like we won't see the Battle of Winterfell but we possibly get the Pink Letter. FTW has to have some meaning behind it. Vowing to make Ramsey eat his word's is the perfect moment to hit us with a shocking scene.

Actually, in the Jon scene, he looks like something is bothering him and there seems to be a letter in front of him. IDK about Oldtown or Davos.

Looks to me that it is a replacement for the pink letter.

Having raised the stakes so high in Hardhome, Jon can't march on Winterfell on a whim. He has to have a higher purpose than saving his sister or having been insulted.

Stannis offers a transaction that makes sense to Jon given where he is now. He desperately needs to defend the wall against the army of the dead no matter what. And accepting that offer could definitely trigger FTW.

Now lets imagine on top Sansa escapes to Castle Black and tells her story after Jon has told Sam he will reject Stannis and Jon changes his mind. That sets up exactly the right dynamic and now it makes sense in the way that a mere pink letter from the books could not with the raised stakes.

Only the thing is that we now know that Jon is marching to support a King who we now know to be worse than the Boltons.

One effect of burning Shireen is that the Boltons are no longer needed as the only baddies left in the show.

Regarding point 6, I think that Arya will kill Trant instead of Thinman and will be excused for that as faceless god does not matter who will die, rather how many will die - death count must be correct.

It sounds like Jaime.

Jaime also could not arrive in time to speak with Cersei before her atonement.

So this appears to be after that moment. Cersei looks broken down. Wrecked.

Possibility that Myrcella and or Tommen didn't quite make it and she's getting the news post-walk?

EDIT: Actually I take it back. Cersei's lips aren't moving when she 'says' her lines, and we don't see Jaime...so I'm wondering if this is from an earlier scene and used as aural backdrop to a wordless moment with Cersei (possible she's hearing that exchange in her head?).

Giving food to people, be it an army at that does not break neutrality. That is my opinion. They are housing and feeding the Whildlings are they not?

I think it is Jamie who is speaking to Cersie....sounds like his voice anyways,

That preview threw up a few issues I haven't seen discussed yet:

1) There are sounds of battle - presumably this is to do with WF. But what fight? Not a stale siege then. Stannis can't afford to do that as he doesn't have the supplies (unless the NW come good very quickly), so has to force a fight. But how? The Boltons plan was to sit in WF and let them starve. That has already been established. Maybe Sansa escapes is captured by Stannis and Ramsay charges out to fight Stannis to get her back?

2) Stannis is seen drawing a non-flaming sword. Why? Not AA then?

3) I saw little evidence of siege weapons or even ladders in their camp, so if they're all drawing swords, then surely this also suggests a fight outside WF? See 1)

4) Who or what is Brienne looking at? It looks to me that she's looking at either WF or a battle not too far away. We've already seen her looking at a window at WF in a prev episode, so it has to be a battle o/s WF. Could be LSH appearing, but too far north surely?

5) Cersei is talking to someone (you can see their shoulder) and it's Jamie's voice. We know he's heading back to KL, so he would visit her in the black cells and confront her about the slutiness charges. Makes sense.

What do you think?

Theon's C**k, aka Stumpy!

We never saw the content of the letter Stannis gave to Davos. This could be the pink letter equivalent, but with much less confusion. Could give Jon a similar difficult decision that would cause a similar end.
