I'm not sure I'll agree with that, but I will admit I'm biased as I detested show!Shae with the heat of a thousand suns!   LOL!

edt; book Shae soon realized how easily Tyrion could be manipulated with sex and convincing him she 'loved' him.  But it was just a business transaction for her to work to her advantage.

Show!Shae apparently 'luved' him and turned into a WATB when he married Sansa.  I found her character annoying and her whining and pouting really grated on me.

The inconsistencies of Show!Shae really are annoying. She "lurves" Tyrion but betrays him in court and in his father's bed, AND tries to kill him to boot She "protects" Sansa and then signs her death warrant with her lying liar lies in court. In the books, she was scheming and ambitious.

Then again, since St. Tyrion had no problematic first wife, he really had no reason to even visit Daddy's suite, since he was, well, ESCAPING PRISON AND THE HEADSMAN. But show reasons, so he had to go discuss the meaning of being a son and being a father with his dad on the toilet, after strangling his ex.

Did you know that in the commentary on the DVD, Alex Graves said Tysha was dead?  :bang:

It's debatable how ambitious Shae was - she was loyal to Tyrion in the capacity of a whore and followed the rules he outlined in the first book. Once Tyrion was accused of murder and had no means of paying her, her contract with him ended and it was entirely Tyrion's fault for buying into the girlfriend experience. She betrays him in court, true, but we know how "persuasive" cersei can be. It's likely she threatened Shae with death unless she testified against Tyrion. Since Shae never loved Tyrion in the first place, it's unreasonable for her to go to her death to protect a former employer.

And Tyrion did have a first wife in the show - they just assumed everybody would have forgotten her by the end of season 4 and dropped her.

In the baths scene with Jaime and Bri, there was a lot of dialog about a character's history and it was a great scene.  So when Jaimie visited Tyrion for the last time in prison, Tyrion talked about smashing f'n beetles instead of Jaimie telling him the truth of Tysha.

Apparently, they forgot that the audience could understand dialog that brought up the past.  I remember when Tyrion told Shae and Bronn about Tysha, it was a good scene.

On nudity: I'm not "offended" by the show using nudity. I do, however, think much of it is unnecessary and the time could be spent on more interesting material. Pod the Sex God was a waste of minutes. As was Ros. The Myranda/Ramsay scene this season was an altogether ridiculous venture. Not only did it make little sense, with Myranda hanging out by an open Winter during early winter, but it was pointless - these are two characters I do not care about! So why spend so much time with them? Another thing that bugs people, I think, is the one-sidedness of it all, with the camera catching women from every conceivable angle, whereas the men are often allowed to stay in bed or remain fully dressed, or are naked for mere seconds. (Recall the Talisa and Robb scene?).

I think the worst bit of nudity was Melisandre and Jon. Beyond a doubt, Benioff and Weiss must think we're stupid. Flirtatious or seductive gestures aren't enough, apparently asking Jon about his sexual experience isn't enough, we need a scene where she molests him. And perhaps that's part of a greater problem: their nudity is just as unsubtle and ham-fisted as so many of their other storytelling ideas. They allow us no chance to dissect or interpret the content ourselves. They simply smack us over the head with the point. Often repeatedly.

Where Robb and Talisa actually ever seen having sex? What is it with this show? They have a couple of consensual relationships in a sea of abuse and they refuse to show the sex in those relationships.

I could have sworn we saw them having sex. I don't think it was anywhere near as graphic as in other cases. But it's been so long since I've watched that material.

We see them beginning to have sex in the second season, I believe. We also see them finishing having sex in GRRM's episode of season 3 "The Bear and the Maiden Fair".

I know he had a wife. She's mentioned in  four different episodes in Seasons 1-3. And I say Book Shae was ambitious because she only saw Tyrion as a means to get stuff and power, even going as far as to beg him to get her into Joffrey's wedding. As noted here, if Varys had shown up and offered Book Shae a sack of jewels and gold, she would have taken it and hopped on the next ship to Essos.

Melisansbra is a walking poster for Sexual Harassment.

Think of the wasted opportunity of Jaimie telling Tyrion about Tysha. if it had been as well done as the bath scene, it could have been well worth their time.  Instead we got beetles.

The b/w gifs... god... there is no sex like that in GoT ;_______; (nor I think will be in Winds)

You never know, the wench and the kingslayer are together, and it's about time for one of his platonic boners, maybe he will think of her like a sister. Oh, and the little bird might have at least another dream about the hound. There's more to come with some other stories in progress, no doubt (on the bright side, Daario is still alive on the show, but Jorah gave him the evil eye, so...) This is the penultimate book, some of these things he's been building up to may just be approaching a peak moment, so to speak.

But they had Jon respond to her briefly, didn't like that. I guess when you are at the Wall and boobs are in your face, that's understandable, still. Jon just looked like a sad, pathetic mess in season 5.

I'm sure J/B will be very awkward sex. SanSan... at least she's tall.

Okay, I must admit that I would put myself in the prudish department when it comes to sex scenes in TV. I very much prefer the 'fade out' - 'fade in' approach. You know it happens, but you don't need to be present and you don't need to drag it out. It's likely connected to my own asexuality, sex is something that is other people's business and I have no right to peep into it. Even if it's just acting, I don't like it and it makes me uncomfortable if it gets too graphic. But that doesn't change that nudity in GoT is doubly weird to me. Because I don't feel uncomfortable, I feel annoyed. Those people have no sex. They are treated like furniture instead. It's cold, it's lifeless... and it's apalling.

I also find it very funny when people point to the 'gritty realism' to defend their focus in these scenes. I point back at Tyrion getting offered free sex from a sex slave for being nice to her. That was basically the death sentence for the last shred of 'gritty realism' the show had left. With any stretch of imagination this scene has no realism to it whatsoever. It's just... you know what I think it is? Sex and nudity in GoT looks to me like wish-fulfilment for the wet fantasies of a bunch of boys in puberty. Even then, I've yet to meet the boy who treats woman that horribly in his imagination. These special boys seem to have some very serious issues with women and warp the setting and narrative to vent their frustration with them. That's basically the only way I can explain how Tyrion and Pod and all the other brothel scenes could possibly be thought up.

Bloody hells, right now porn does treat its female characters with more respect! That's saying something!
