Interview with David Benioff
That, Parris, would be awesome. :)

Actually, I'd be suprised not to see you and George in the background at some point. It can be like "Where's Waldo?"
George did background in a TZ episode, and we were both in the background of a scene in a B&B episode set in Greenwich Village. So if he's over in Ireland at the right time during filming, they might just put him in costume and have him sit in on a feasting scene or the like.

a side note or two about Ireland as the location for filming the pilot:

1) I don't think Benioff purposely revealed the choice of location when talking to the Swedish paper. It sounds to me like it was just one of those things that slipped, and perhaps he didn't realize that even in Sweden there are people who would notice and spread the word. So please don't be too hard on him. He knows that the fan base for this project is vital, active, and interested in every little thing. For heaven's sake, when I read the board a week or so ago and saw that someone posted that a friend who works at HBO shared an elevator ride with Peter Dinklage therefore Dinklage must be signing up to play Tyrion, I realized that unless the whole production is done in some remote and internet-less country with more security than most production contemplate, both facts and rumours are going to swirl night and day around the production. (Please note that I am neither confirming or denying that Dinklage is going to be in the series. I don't have the slightest clue on who's being cast, who's been offered roles, let alone if they've signed a contract and are getting fitted for gowns and armor).

2) Some folks are concerned about filming in Ireland in the darkest, coldest months of the year. (Yeah, I've been there. It can really be grim when the sun barely gets above the horizon for months and there's little to look forward to outside except more cold, grey skies and rain. and sleet and even some snow now and then). But kids, there's there's nifty new innovation in film production! It's called a sound stage! That's a large building, similar to an airport hanger, where all the needs of a production can be gathered under a roof, with utilities and sets and lighting and even fake snow if they need it! So while they may have plans for exterior shots that will take place around the castles and picturesque ruins of Ireland, most of principle production could be done on a sound stage. I believe that there are several sound stages in various locations around the island that might be considered for the production.

Just thought I'd add my two pennies to save folks some needless speculation.

ok, back to practicing my scold's voice and looking holier-than-thou for my audition as the septa to the Stark daughters.

Glad to hear it's gonna be in Ireland. Because I knew it would never be in NZ once I heard the other fantasy book series was being filmed here, there is only so much fantasy filming one small island nation can take. So Ireland is the next best thing. And it sounds like Ireland needs a bit of economic stimulus, now that it is no longer the cheapest place in Europe to make stuff.

Roll on October!

Another Swedish interview with Benioff. Nothing about ASOIAF in this one, only about the Swedish translation of City of Thieves and general stuff.

You mean, I have to burn the body too now? Sheesh.

Hey, take a lesson from the Night's Watch - it pays to be thorough in the disposal of "dead" bodies. ;)

OK, so I just found the site www.extras.ie - basically an internet site where Irish-based wannabe actors pay a certain amount so that their name is put on a list that's apparently passed around when any casting is being done in Ireland. I was considering actually going to any open casting auditions in Ireland (if they have them) cos I have some acting experience, but maybe this is easier :leaving:

I was never much of a follower of the Tudors - is the series finished? If so, the place where they used to film, Ardmore Studios, would be perfect as a sound-stage, like Parris mentioned up-thread.

(OT) It starts airing next month on Showtime. Apparently Season 3 takes us through to Henry's marriage to Katherine Howard.

WOW!
This is amazing news! i live in Ireland, and own an 1000 acre Estate near to Dublin. Our Estate is often used for Films and TV show including, The Count of Monte Cristo, Blue Max, Ella the Enchanted and King Arthur (including others which i cant think of!) and most significantly, alot of the HBO/BBC series The Tudors. I would imagine if they use Ardmore Studios (the biggest studios in Ireland) then they will use my Estate, really exciting!
If they do, and i really think they will, then i will happily keep everyone informed on what i see.
Here's a few links to it.

I've been to Powerscourt - the gardens only - what a gorgeous estate!

Perhaps when George and I return to Ireland in 2010 for the nat con, we can visit once again.

/waits for Growing Stronger's profile views to beat both Brady and Jacen combined.

Though now I wonder how many BWB are going to show up at Powerscourt and enquire after Growing Stronger.

"Who?"
"Growing Stronger."
"Is who growing stronger?"
"Yes. Is he here?"

Yup, O'Toole is still in the mix.
