TTTNE 418: Once more the Sith shall rule TTTNE

I'm sorry master. :P What was the name of the woman in your av again? Something Shan, IIRC.

PS: can I be your padawan?

Satele Shan. Revan's and Bastila's descendant. I plan to change a lot during this thread.

If you want. But be aware I follow the old way before the Old Sith Wars, I will have as many Padawans as I can and you will have to compete along them and against them.

I hope you all will permit to be insufferable for a minute (and then I'll try to drop it).

As a proud Norwegian-American I took joy in seeing Norway atop the medals table with 11, but I also was curious what their all time count was.

This according to Wikipedia:

#3: Austria - 201 medals all time

#2: USA - 253

#1: Norway - 303

To be fair, the Soviet Union had 194 when it dissolved in the late '89-'90. The Russian federation and the various splintered states have added another 100+, so Russia is the real #1.

Still pretty good for a nation of 6 million or so.

Well KiD, take your time. I don't want you leaving FL to drive up to GA with an ice storm coming anyway.

You have until June to learn how to cook. :P

Let's start with the basics...can you boil water without the microwave?

I don't know why this post in particular brings it to mind, but I've been meaning to ask you for some time: What is it like to live in Augusta when the Masters comes to town.

You probably get asked this all the time. Hope you don't mind one more?

Congrats DV.

What happened last night, you guys moved way too fast.

Check this http://kotaku.com/official-game-of-thrones-action-figures-could-have-be-1520925037

Does Ned come with a detachable head? it didn't say. ;)

Acted like a damn fool in the false spring weekend and now have a list of chores as long as my arm. Boo.

Picked this up before I saw:

What Bex said. Teach because you want to teach. The money sucks and it's exhausting. (Best job ever, but see last sentence.)

My mother was an RN and was Head Nurse at the county's TB clinic. Her lack of Master's in Health Management (or any Education in that major) held her back from becoming Clinic Director, my gut says it's a plus.

You funny Bex. I was gonna say bake a potato...Just missed you in Chat honey. So glad you're back.

Ok, this storm is SCARY. some of the unfinished wiring in my house just arced off at the last lightening strike. It's POURING. Like HURRICANE POURING. And it's really cold. Pray for no house fires people. (no more house fires until I can afford insurance. no more housefires until I can afford insurance)

Yikes! Be safe, Lily!

RB-Hello!

The storm passed, it was just a couple of hours. I am going to have my fuse boxes checked out and bump up ye olde fire insurance on the to-do list. Thanks, LadyQ.

Anyone who thinks that cats cannot talk should have seen my little beast these last couple of days during the cold weather. He has made me me open every window and door for another "outside". He has been sitting on the sofa next to me this evening. If I shut the window, he swats me to open it. When rain blows in, he cowers until I close it. Then he goes to the door. Then the other door. Then the other window. (repeat until one of us falls asleep). If I fall asleep, he hits my nose until I let him under the covers. He is quite clear with his 4 icy cold feet if I am taking up more than 10% of the bed.

I woke up this morning and he was asleep on my book, hogging most of the blankets.

Heinlein wrote a novella called "The Door Into Summer." The title was about a similar cat's behavior. Cat had a tiny sidekick role, stole the show and the story's title.

Cat people, are your cats this bossy? I know mine hates winter as much as I do.

He's also housebroken, so the "Outside! NOW!" command is never ignored by us people. We don't have a cat door on account of the feral cats. Kitty just asks. However, I was thinking about indoor plumbing for him just for the bad weather. How hard do you think it would be to get rid of once he's used to it?

Good. Glad you survived the storm.

Heinlein also wrote The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, which I may still have. Fun quick read.

I think every cat - human relationship is unique.

For us (Friskey and me) it's a long running negotiation (most of this is non-verbal).

Her: "Up now?"

Me: bleary eyed, looking at 4:30 am alarm clock "Too early. Go back to sleep".

Her (ten minutes later) "Up now?"

Me: "Go back to sleep" repeat about 5 times.

It boils down to she does what she wants to do and I do what I want to do and each tries to get the other to bend a little. . .

Some people think cats are arrogant, but I find these are cats who have given up trying to communicate with humans, "because they just don't get it". I confess, I don't always know what Friskey is trying to tell me, and some times I know what she's saying, but I can't help her.

One thing I can say for sure. The eyes are very important. They're like owl eyes. They lock in on one thing and they see that one thing very, very well. So they know when they have your attention and when not. Cats like babies need your full attention at times. I'd say this is a major negotiating point with Friskey. Especially when I get home, she meets me at the door and checks apprehensively to see if she's going to have my attention for a moment or if I'm going to be more involved in talking to Mrs. Chicken or something trivial like that. I try to give her half a minute or two of undivided attention, but that isn't always possible.

Congratulations DV. May the Force be with you. Yes, the right side of the Force.

Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassed this shitty exam! Just one more tomorrow, I have to survive ... :commie:

Slo has 4 Olympic medals by now! :commie:

I saw that a Slovenian woman won gold in the downhill - Tina Maze? Congratulations to Slovenia!

Am I a Sith *lord* then? Or who am I?

Just going home from work - I got a terrible headache.

FoMN: I read books.

Which SW books have you read? Any favorites?

Satele Shan. Revan's and Bastila's descendant. I plan to change a lot during this thread.

If you want. But be aware I follow the old way before the Old Sith Wars, I will have as many Padawans as I can and you will have to compete along them and against them.

Yes, Satele, that was her name.

It will be my pleasure, master. Who else do you teach?

She is so beautiful.

I will take almost everyone who will ask for my help. Even if they are too many only very few of them will be Knights in the end. You know how very dangerous the Trials of Knighthood can be. :cool4:

There are always two. A master and an apprentice.

Couldn't see that. Something about needing special authorization from the account holder to view potentially offensive content. When I clicked accept, I'm asked for my password, but not to my account, to my daughter's. In no mood to do deal with the stupidity, so I gave up . . .

Bah stupid YouTube.

Morning my lovelies

Need to bring in some wood today for the fireplace, just in case. My husband laughs at me whenever I make a "power is out" plan and get everything together. We'll see who is laughing if the power does go out. :P

That is very scary. With spring coming, I hope you can get the wiring taken care of.

I really liked that book. :)

Draco is an indoor only cat. He can be very bossy and demanding. He climbs on us and sticks his head under our hands, demanding to be petted. But when it comes time to feed him, he sits next to his bowl very patiently, waiting for his food.

There are cat/dog doors that can only be opened by the collar on the pet.

I will see if I can find this one.

Yes, I can manage that much.

They do month to month, but not pay as you go. I was on a month to month, but needed to switch and they won't let me.

However, if you already do the pay as you go, they will continue it.

This is the plan I was on, but need to stop the automatic payment

Oh ok, I was worried for a second there :P

There are always two. A master and an apprentice.

Only for the Sith. Jedi have their own way.

I wish to be a bounty hunter :ninja:

A Jedi turned bounty hunter or a Sith bounty hunter?

So the 12th is my parents' 32nd wedding anniversary and the 14th is St Valentine's Day. I bought cards when I went out for supplies and my mom made it clear that with the storm I am not expected tomorrow.

So, I will take the time tomorrow to do more than just sign cards. I will engage in the old format and write heartfelt messages inside the cards :D

CONGRATULATION YO YOUR PARENTS!

A Jedi hunter and/or killer then. How about Fallen Jedi Jerec one of the seven Dark Jedi?

This could work.

I've always felt like I should know more about the Star Wars extended universe. One of my good friends knows everything there is to know about it, I should borrow some books from him.

That is not insufferable, some self-promotion is cool. :P B)

She did. I hope none of the foreign TVs do not mess up with the names of countries/flags like they did with the skijumper Prevc ... one TV assigned him a Russian flag and wrote he was Russian, and another assigned him a Slovakian flag. So silly. :P
