BuckShotBill
KJ Parker and Kameron Hurley are the authors you are looking for. I've read "the Company" by KJ Parker, but thought it was kind of dull except for some of the flash backs and the crazy chick. Do her other works have more zing? SkynJay
I've read "the Company" by KJ Parker, but thought it was kind of dull except for some of the flash backs and the crazy chick. Do her other works have more zing?It is a different type of grit. While I found The Company a bit tedious ascwell, and by far NY least favorite of the author, the style is consistent. Try the Folding Knife, it is the usual rec. If you hate it then move along, you probably won't like the rest.

sologdin
many lovely descriptions of blood, semen, and motor oils mixed together. RSB obviously read crash and thought S + MO = BS. and thus the second apocalypse was born.

Ser Jake
I'm about halfway through 'Fevre Dream' by GRRM and it's really good. It's about vampires if you're not failiar with it, but its nice and gory, well written, etc. Oh, and another book I always recommend: World War Z by Max Brooks. Yes, the movie sucked, BUT, the book is nothing like the movie and is super, super awesome. Read it!
