Academy Awards 2015 - Oscar night...

So, the "bunch of despicable, spoiled, minimally talented brats" are gathering to celebrate the movies "North Korea was OK with"... Yeap, after the couple of months of award shows, both televised and not, time has come for Oscars. This year, as so rarely in the past years, can indeed offer some surprises since the races in many categories are wide open. 2014 was arguably phenomenal year for movies and the talent is up this year. The show will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and we can all hope that music acts will be at least tolerable... For those into fashion, Oscar night is also the longest catwalk and glitz and glam is always being more talked about than you know, the actual winners...

When we are on that, here is the list of nominees:

Strong field this year by the looks of it.

I absolutely loved loved loved Birdman but haven't seen all of the nominees. Seems from what I've read that Boyhood and Birdman are the likeliest contenders for Best Picture. As Amores Perros is still one of my favourite films, I'm rooting for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, even though I haven't seen Boyhood.

Shows how strong the Best Actor field is this year that Ralph Fiennes' wonderful performance in TGBH hasn't been nominated as well as the ever-great Timothy Spall for Mr Turner. Great to see that the Best Actress category looks strong too, given how the lack of great roles for women in movies is such an issue.

Well, the first call was absolutely correct. JK Simmons earned that Oscar.

Yeap... I was weighing a lot between him and Norton, but this was a deserved win.

Dakota Johnson on Oscars is so depressing... And that intro was meh...

I actuary really liked the opening number.

IDK, it was meh... Though, the Serbian translator couldn't keep his mouth shut...

Hurray for JK Simmons :D That award was his by right. Whiplash for all the awards (in a better world).

Well, this is a huge win for all my teachers...
