Lost my quotes, again. But thank you all, you are more than kind.

Lady O, before the housing bubble burst, we had over $100g in equity...now we are right at break even, so $0

I am trying for a Stafford loan. I have already submitted the paperwork.

I spent most of this afternoon putting together Alex's first week of lesson plans :)

I got a big world map and covered it with plastic and he is going to track earthquakes and volcanoes on it daily (as well as in a log----also map reading as the site uses lat and long for location :P ) I have a second plastic sheet that I drew the tectonic plates on and after about a month, I will overlay it on the map. I think we'll limit it to the top 15 quakes each day

He'll be reading "Wild Cards", making character sheets for them...and then at the end, make his own character and a little story about him

And then there is a collection of vocabulary (from his school book), stuff on the US Civil War, and science & math worksheets that I will rotate through (no more than 2 of these a day, so not everything everyday, except the earthquake log & the reading).

Also made answer sheets, just in case I am working, so the husband would have at least a little clue ;)

That sounds really fun (Alex's lessons). Will he still do his karate too?

Lany you are an awesome teacher

I would have actually enjoyed summer break if you were my mom.

@Helena - don't forget to share pics of Dublin :)

What area of law will your internship be in?

Is penny dreadful on Netflix?

I'll try! (Though I hate photos :p)

Well I said internship but it's actually a vacation scheme where I spend some time working for a law firm. So no specific area, it all depends what I am asked to do

No :( I think in America its on Showtime :dunno: I didn't think about how you could watch Season one, woops

Its Saturday night and this thread is empty! Don't make me spam endless Jaime Lannister propaganda all over the place.

But it's Sunday morning! And we lost Cora the Night Owl for a little bit

Is it usual in other places that parents prepare lessons for their kids like that during the holidays? Do other spammers do it for their kids/were the other spammers in such a situation as children? My parents never did anything like that, even if we - that is valonqar and I - were at home during the holidays (which we were mostly not, when parents worked, we mostly stayed at grandparents'). And when parents had vacation, then we usually did not spend it at home.

My King  (I know you are not King now but you will always be My King since you were Spam King when I arrived). How are you? Are you having a good weekend? Enjoying work?

Buck, we never did what Lany did either. But I do think its a good idea. Keeps.Alex out of mischief ;) :p

Think I will bake tomorrow. Will have to flick through my cookery books and see what ingredients I need.

i am employing a similar plan for Princess...she let her grades drop into the toilet during the last 9 weeks barely salvaging herself by the end...so since she proved she has the knowledge...i shall be working on her understanding of the meaning of study habits...

i dig the eathquake tracking. and the tectonics. i have several great books etc if you need just let me know and i'll ship some stuff out...i have dupes of most so no worries...

also this is the best website for daily tracking. in my opinion...i like the one you are using don't get me wrong. if you want to limit number of quakes per day, in my opinion it is best to set higher r-scale limit . this site uses 2.5 but you could set for higher, i see the iris site uses 4.0...

lots of reasons i like this, not just cause i worked for usgs but because they are also plotted on interactive maps, have great informative tables with all the info etc...

You were warned.

damn i used to have abs like that but sorry no chest hair...it's the indian thing...

alrighty everyone be good...or if you can't be good, take lots of pics... :leer:

Morning my lovelies

did a little gardening this morning and got stung by a bee on my butt (ok, the top of my thigh, but close enough, and "on my butt sounds funnier" :P ) pictures soon of the gardens

Yep, he will still be doing karate, and moving into the adult classes. bought him a new gi, sparring gear and a wooden sword for his birthday (13 in just 3 weeks)

no, it is not usual, but my son is lazy and forgetful. If I didn't make him do things, he would spend all day, every day on the computer or video games.

We work out first, then do about an hour (or a bit more) of "school work" each day

Thank you

I looked at that site too, but I want him to find the locations on the map using the latitudes and longitudes, and I want him to come to the idea on his own about the plates. I won't put the overlay on until after a month, and he has most likely already realized the connection.

I am using papers from school, that are very similar to what he will do next year in 8th grade (all the schools use the same main books, but some teaches get additional books on their own). One of the advantages to subbing is I get to see what he will be doing ahead of time and I can make copies, takes notes from the books and even read stuff on the county curriculum pages. My hope is that seeing it this summer, in a slower, less stressful environment will help his grades next year...at least a little bit.

Right again, sis. I could checkout that blog.

KT - how goes it today

Cardiology? Don't even get me started on the idiot cardiologist on call this morning that ordered a transfer to the ICU STAT right at shift change. The ICU won't come and and get him and we don't have adequate staff to take him down. So at 730, an ICU nurse shows up to take him down to ICU without a cardiac monitor, no oxygen and no physician escort.

Duh doc...we told you hours ago he needed to be transferred...and you waited until 6AM when it was OK to wake up your attending?

That's bad of course.

The friend I told you about who's studying to become a dentist told me about a patient who needs Marcumar®. He didn't stop taking it and thus he bled. She had a hectic time stopping the bleeding. What she didn't know - until I told her - that these kinds of patients need to switch to Clexane® a couple of days before an operation and after it.

What do they learn at university today? :bang:

Hello My dear friends i have missed you all. It has been far too long since i have stopped by and said hello. One of the reasons is life has been busy but only in the best of ways, the other reason is i have not been able to sign into westeros for months and months. I don't know if anyone else has been having this problem but this is only the second time in about a year the site would let actually sign on. Now that i am finally on i need to send the admins a message about the problem because it has been so frustrating.

I hope everyone in the TTNE family is doing well, i truly have missed you all. For all the new faces i have yet to meet i am the CROW and though i may have been absent the TTNE will always be my home HAR HAR HAR!!!!!!!!

For those wondering where all my emoticons are that i usually use, well um.............. i forgot how to use them by typing and im too lazy to select them the other way HAR HAR HAR!!!!!!!!!!!
