Bluetiger
Anyone have an opinion on who Ser Shadrich is, or who he is really working for? Is he really just a hedge knight looking for a cash out in Sansa or could he be working for the Manderly's, or the Tully's, or some other family worth considering? I keep rereading the WoW sample chapters, and something keeps bringing me back to this character, I'd like to think his sigil is a clue to something but I'm not sure what? In Pentos Varys had group of informers and spies called "Little Mice"...

Personally I hope he is just a really clever individual who is going to fool Littlefinger himself by giving Sansa's position away. I don't think that Varys would have a knight working for him. So far his only expys have been children or other incospicuos lowborn. Varys does not look like the kind of guy who has knights working for him
maudisdottir
I can't seem to get an answer to this question although I've searched every possible source in the books and asked all over the Internet. Hope someone can clear it up. How do we know Edric Dayne is named after Ned Stark? We know the Daynes think highly of Eddard despite the events of ToJ and Arthur's/Ashara's deaths; we know they call Edric "Ned" for short; but where is it specifically stated that Edric Dayne was named after Eddard Stark? maudisdottir
I see a lot of people use it in discussions, particularly N + A (IMO it was B + A, and neither = J) but I haven't been able to get a direct quote, and I've searched the ebook for it. Rhaenys_Targaryen
It is nowhere specifically stated Edric was named for Eddard. Because both are nicknamed 'Ned', and because Edric seems to hold a higher opinion of Ned than you'd normally expect, considering Eddard killed Edric's uncle, people usually conclude that Edric must be named for Eddard. Then there's also the Wylla-mystery, which connects Eddard and Starfall.
Lost Melnibonean
Is it possible that Cersei had Robert's dying accelerated once Sansa advised her of Eddard's plans?
Rhaenys_Targaryen
Is it possible that Cersei had Robert's dying accelerated once Sansa advised her of Eddard's plans? Possible? Always. But would she? Eddard wouldn't do anything until Robert died, and every hour Robert lived was an hour for her to prepare.

Eddard wouldn't do anything until Robert died, and every hour Robert lived was an hour for her to prepare. But once Sansa told her Eddard was sending away her potential hostages, didn't she have to act? Sansa proved to be the leverage she needed to force Eddard to bend the knee, and she likely kept Robb from executing Jaime.

Lost Melnibonean
But she had her leverage, in Sansa... Sansa was taken into custody immediately.Right, and since she took Sansa into custody, she had move against Stark, which meant Robert had to die that morning. So, was the timing of Robert's passing that morning coincidental, or did Cersei have Robert's dying accelerated?

Pycelle already thought it a miracle that Robert survived as long as he did, didn't he?

Pycelle already thought it a miracle that Robert survived as long as he did, didn't he?Yes, that's been my understanding since I read Game the first time. But I've been debating the consequences of Sansa running to the Queen, and it got me thinking about this. So, it's possible, but there is nothing in the text to suggest it, other than the speculation that I outlined above? Maybe Alicent's actions in the Dance of the Dragons are a hint? Cayrouse
Are there any instances of valyrian steel weapons being used against one another ?(except that one duel between a corbray and a blackfyre)? Has a valyrian steel sword ever been broken by anything officially? Do you guys reckon the IT comprises any VS swords take from aegons enemies? Bob Sacamano
I am re-reading (relistening) to ACOK. It was said that Lady Hornwood came to the harvest feast with only a dozen men. At the time she already knew more or less about Ramsay's intentions. Why do you think she didn't bring more of an escort? I know a lot of men went south with Robb, but still, only a dozen people?? Agreed Ramsay was only one of a couple of suitors interested in her. Alas Ramsay is crazy.

And the only duel that comes to mind is the one you mentioned.
