Jen'ari
I've been listening to these two today as I'm learning/practicing the former on piano and the latter on guitar so had them both on repeat during my morning run.

I've given The National's new one a couple of spins, and it's as good as anything they've ever done. I continue to be blown away by the consistent high level output of this band. This is, if you ask me, their 7th straight excellent album since 2005. Ed’s in this song, which is a rare for me, I usually learn Jonnys in their other songs!. It’s actually pretty straightforward to play, sounds great though. I’ve not heard the new National album but completely agree with you, their output has been constantly great. DMC
Always appreciated it, and it directly speaks to me with what I did. One day I'll take the time to tell that story.

DireWolfSpirit
Another in a long line of great acts from my native state of Michigan. These guys are some real throwback rockers, Gretta Van Fleet- eta: Sam Cooke cover is unique and shows them as more than just a Zep sound a like-

Huge departure. Another thing that jumps out on this one is that it's very light on noticeable rockers or identifiable guitar riffs. It's much more in the pocket of ambient sound stuff. As a fan of the band I like both of those things quite a bit, and I do somewhat feel sad that i got a new National record without any more nice additions to their more rock side of things. But I cannot really complain overall because this one came out just like 18 months after their previous studio album, and for that ambient sound pocket it's excellent. I'm actually embarrassed to say that I don't really know most of the female vocalist. I know Lisa Hannigan from the Damien Rice world. Here's the rest of the list who features: Gail Ann Dorsey Sharon Van Etten Kate Stables Mina Tindle I will have to give it a listen for sure!, as a guitarist of over 20 years now I’ve actually come to appreciate the instrument being used in a more subtle way, not that I don’t still love a bit of straight up rock too!, but this new album has really piqued my interest from the way you’ve described it. DMC
When I was young And scared of the world My mother would sing me a song A tune that I keep in a sacred place Because I know that my life won't be long It tells of the place where you go When your time here on earth is through A beautiful place we call heaven Is it true Please God I pray that it's true 'Cause once this land was heaven on earth Green hills were all you could seeBut now it's soot and steel and brick So it looks more like hell to me And each day brings more and more suffering And each night is silence and fear And I wake to the sound of your voice But you're not here Why aren't you here? So now I lay me down to sleep I pray the lord My soul to keep Please let me die before I wake So the lord my soul, can take Then maybe I'll finally find you 'Midst the beauty of paradise And you'll sing not of dying But living Wouldn't that be nice? Wouldn't that be nice?

Jen'ari
Forgotten how much I loved this song, haven’t heard it for years. An Aphex Twin cover bought to you by some great drumming and a effects altered Stratocaster , oh and Flea .

Toth
Just yesterday I noticed that Marc Martel Martel has put his entire "Thunderbolt on Lighting" album on his official Youtube account. So I was naturally listening to his creative Queen covers all day long. I'm especially impressed by "Under Pressure": Also have I mentioned that I got myself cards for one of his concerts in January? I'm already giddy to hear Queen as it should be!
