Soylent Brown
Not many of our usual starters in the squad today, but it'll be nice to see Minamino play his first game, and good to see Ox available again.

ljkeane
I’m a little surprised to see so many first team players starting. Good to see Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury apparently wasn’t too serious.
Iskaral Pust
Everton’s first team currently drawing with Liverpool’s blend of second string and kids. That’s a bit pathetic really. Milner out with a hamstring injury within the first few minutes, so hopefully Ox really is approaching full fitness.
Soylent Brown
Entertaining first half. Williams has done well on his side, but Larouci looks out of his depth and Gomez covering for him so much has left gaps down the middle. Minamino has had some nice touches, but we've not been going down the middle much so hasn't seen as much of the ball as I'd like. Origi had our best chance (though probably offside), but has otherwise been ponderous in possession
Consigliere
Everton should be at least two goals up. Some good saves from Adrian but really Everton's finishing has been quite poor. All signs point to them getting punished for being so wasteful. Would be embarrassing to lose to Liverpool's C team.

Well they did already lose 5-2 in the league to Liverpool’s B team. But I thought they had improved after Big Dunc kicked ass and took names. ljkeane
Well, other than Milner picking up an injury, that went better than expected. Minamino struggled to get himself involved in the game but that's understandable given he's been with the club for 5 days. All the young players had pretty good games. Phillips and Larouchi had slightly ropey starts but grew into it, Elliott was decent again but Jones and Williams were really impressive. Even Chirivella wasn't bad although you'd think his chance of really making it at Liverpool has already gone.
Consigliere
Twenty years without a win at Anfield. This one will hurt Evertonians for a long time though. Losing to Liverpool's C team with their best available lineup is a massive embarrassment.

Soylent Brown
Gomez was brilliant too. Possibly his best game for us, I think. DCL is always a nightmare for defenders but he looked assured thoughout.

Apparently he was on the bench but didn't come on. That's a lot of money to spend on a young player who's apparently not even first choice for Flamengo yet. Vinicius Jr. hadn't played a single game among the professionals when he was signed for this kind of money. Reinier, meanwhile, has 15 games, many of whom coming as a substitute, and 6 goals. Yeah, and Vinicius Jr hasn't really come anywhere close to justifying the fee paid for him yet. They both might well turn out to be excellent players but it's lot of money to be repeatedly throwing at unproven youth players.
Iskaral Pust
The kids did themselves proud today. They had a couple of good wins in the LC, and the 5-0 loss to Villa was not at all reflective of how well they played. For them to beat Everton’s first team is incredible, especially with Milner injured after just a few minutes. Gomez (who was 4th choice CB until recently) was the only first team player, and Origi and Lallana the only senior back-ups. The rest were kids and a new acquisition from a minor league on his debut. They definitely earned themselves another appearance. OTOH, losing Milner to injury is a real blow. His fitness makes him always available as a back-up for MF or FB. Everton, though, need to hang their heads in shame. For their first team to be defeated and shut out by a team of kids is ridiculous. Especially considering their recent improvement. And after having some dangerous chances in the first half (well saved by Adrian), against a defense that doesn’t even rise to the level of makeshift, they couldn’t muster any real threat in the entire second half. If Everton had won, as they should have, I would have rejected any notion of bragging rights with the win. But for the Liverpool kids to take the win gives the red half of the city an easy way to needle their rivals for years.

The problem of course is that sometimes, because of those fees, the players are deemed flops when they are in fact performing as well as you could expect from someone their age. Consigliere
I'd say Rodrygo is a better player than Vinicius at this point in time. Both players are quick and good dribblers but Rodrygo has more composure, makes better decisions and has better end product in the final third. With Vinicius there is a lot of wild shots and poor crosses.
