I have mixed feelings about 2020. One the one hand, it's been absolutely horrific. On the other, lockdown inspired me to come up with a life-changing invention.

We are currently in to-and-fro negotiations with two global companies over what is shaping up to be a very lucrative licence arrangement.

Be sure to establish a place of residence in Monaco once that's all finalised...

Too soon? : leaving:

As I said.

The cold and rain stopped me. I’ll be be back to form with loud explosions next year.

Also the only other 2 people here were my brothers. Why waste good fireworks on them?

I don't think the weather was the deciding factor at all. Otherwise fireworks in general would be way less popular in central Slovenia, the fog is often so thick you cannot see much anyway.

It was probably more that selling and buying non-essential stuff was almost impossible for most of the last few months.

Regardless, why go back to loud explosions next year anyway? Why pollute the air and scare the shit out of all the animals, the elderly and children far around?

Incredibly disappointed that aliens didn't invade us. But then again, there is that radio signal from Proxima Centauri, so maybe it has begun. :P

That’s not an invasion signal, it’s the galactic equivelent of ‘unclean’, warning the rest of the galaxy away :p

I just now watched clips from midnight at Times Square.  I cried.  I have never had the least interest in being there and never have been in all the New Years I've lived here.  But seeing it deserted and with all these tawdry circus-carny midway flashing lights and strange decorations ... another piece of my heart was broken by 2020.

2020 is i think the first year where I and a lot of other people saw that the future does not necessarily mean things will be better. That innocence is forever lost. We will have to fight like fucking demons to make it better, knowing a lot of others will be fighting against us every step of the way.

I was never an optimist unlike you but the response of a lot of people to this crisis has convinved me that nothing with significant impact will be done in response to climate change and the ongoing anthropocene extinction event.

You say that, but... Has anyone heard of The Great Reset? I hadn't until yesterday, when I saw some headlines referring to it as some kind of right wing conspiracy theory.

Turns out it's a real thing, an initiative from the World Economic Forum, fronted by Prince Charles. The aim is to reshape the global economy for a post Covid world. Responsible capitalism.

On the face of it, it looks quite good. Save the planet, address poverty and inquality.

But some of the gammon factions are losing their shit over it, because, well, socialism or something.

That is just another bullshit thing for rich people involved in NGOs. I'm sure lots of fancy meetings with good food and great networking opportunities will be the result.

I'm sorry. I will never believe in the good intentions of people at the top.
