Gaston de Foix
15 hours ago, Spockydog said: The idea that anyone at News International is in any way ennobled for writing about Brand, when Wooton, one of their own, is accused of equally revolting activities, yet they've not printed a word about him. Thanks. Certainly one factor is potential legal liability for the parent company. IIRC, newspapers have dealt with this on matters of genuine public importance where they are (negative) actors by publishing restrained accounts which mirror other already published reporting. There might be legitimate or mixed motives. Or there might be malign motives using this as a pretext in the newsroom. That doesn't mean the fix isn't in, it just means that we can't conclude the fix is in. I would be more troubled the fix is in if the other right wing papers didn't publish anything either or declined to pursue the story, but I know very little about the guy. Literally nobody, except The Byline Times, is writing anything about this creep. Rape and blackmail are amongst the allegations. He is also reported to have blackmailed senior execs at News International. Hence the silence from them, one imagines. Gaston de Foix

No. I am literally correct. You'll note I was speaking in the present tense. So while they all briefly touched on the story, about a month ago, now it's nothing but crickets. Not exactly keeping up the pressure, is it? I suspect Wootton's blackmail tentacles reach deep into the bowels of the British media. More like nobody knows who he is. Thats probably why it's not in the news. Plus Byline Times is very far from a reputable news source. Spockydog
Lol. Here we witness the exact same phenomenon currently manifesting across the entire Gammon Spectrum, in response to the Brand stuff. Discredit the victims and/or blame the reporting. Especially since he's an absolute nonentity.

Edwards - no criminality, no victim (at least no one who wanted to complain). Ditto with Schofield. Yet both of their careers have been utterly destroyed. Wootton: serious criminal allegations, including rape and blackmail, named victims reported him to police, yet the cunt is still on TV every night. They are not the same. Dan Wooton is a virtual unknown, I doubt many people who even watch GB news know who he is. I don’t even live in the UK and I know who he is. And he has the highest rated show on GB news if I’m not mistaken. And he’s done several other things to gain him notoriety. This idea that no one is covering him because he’s too low profile is laughable. The other guys: Schofield, Edwards, throw Lineker in as well (though not for the same reason); I had no idea who they were until recently.

But we're talking about British coverage and all three of those people (plus Brand) are much more famous in the UK than Wootton is. You can't go 'Wootton is famous, his show is the most-watched on GB News' then ignore that Huw Edwards presented BBC News and Gary Lineker leads Match of the Day. The UK press have certainly gone after more obscure personalities with more vigor. Regarding those other guys, I’m not commenting on whether or not the level of coverage or even the type of coverage was appropriate. I’m disputing the claim that Wooton is too low-interest to warrant greater interest. In addition to GB news, he also writes for the Daily Mail. He was a presenter on ITV for a time. He testified at Levinson. He was a figure in the Caroline Flack tragedy. He injected himself into the Depp-Heard insanity. He was sued by Depp for libel. You think the millions of people who felt honor-bound to take a side in that insanity have never heard of this guy? He’s been called out publicly by several high-profile figures, including a mention in the fastest selling non-fiction book of all time. Out of the millions of people who purchased “Spare”, you think none of them were tempted to google, “Sad Little Man”?
