In exciting news for me I'm off to Vietnam tomorrow for six weeks for work. It's all beem crazy last minute too, as in I found out a week ago. Very excited though and seriously looking forward to the food.

Unfortunately it's an urgent work thing and I don't think I'll have much time for touristy stuff. Still a great opportunity though :)

Sorry to bring things down with politics but just saw Wayne Swan on the 7.30 report. People here pretty much know I despise politicians in general but seriously this guy was doing the trick of the totally incompetent i.e. everything that goes right is due to him and everything that goes wrong is due to external influences outside of his control. This guy really is just as bad as gillard and abbot if not worse.

I also hate to say it but I do tend to think this is more a sign of both a culture of incompetence and massive systemic corruption. It could not ever be called a democracy since one of the major parties believes that a minority gov is not democracy and it certainly is not a democracy when the other major party refuses to acknowledge the desires of the people.

I guess I should get around to outlining the shenanigans of the sunday night, specially after Morningsword and Paxter left me with that horrible person from Melbourne, known around these parts as Ser Camaris. Truly, he is the Great Other.

Okay, so the night started off at Central station, where we all met up (Pax, Morningsword, Ser Camaris and myself) and tried to figure out where to go. The options being Chinatown, Surry Hills initially, but since I am a terrible foody, I didn't know any good place to eat other than pub grubs. So Paxter saved the day with a recommendation up at Glebe, as he has been there before. He said it was about 10 min walk. So naturally the actual time it took to get there was about 20-25 min walk (Pax didn't mention he meant 10min perth time units which is 25min normal time in the real world :P). So we get there and pick a mexican restaurant to stuff our faces, cause god knows we were hungry as hell.

We ordered some nachos, a chicken dish that had a sauce with some chocolate on it (it wasn't sweet...just wierd tasting), and another really nice cheesy chicken dish. There was also some alcoholic beverage that we tried out that was pretty much just wine except slightly more fruity, i forgot the name of it. All the while this was happening Paxter and Ser Cam was giving each other plenty of shit, as usual. As many of you have met Paxter, you know he has a sharp tongue and he isn't afraid to let it loose. Personally, I was really happy that Ser Cam was there, because normally I am at the end of his jokes, so thanks to Ser Cam I escaped the slaughterhouse that night.

Our lively conversation encompassed many topics, including politics, social rights/issues, work, weather etc. At which point the waiter politely asked us to GTFO since we hadn't ordered anything more but sat there talking shit. So we finally go in search of a pub and settle on Bar Broadway. It was the only one that wasn't closing, plus some of us had to really pee :P. So we go in, order a round of shots and beer. Morningsword, smart and responsible as she is, decided not to drink, cause, you know, she isn't an idiot like the rest of us who kept going despite having work in the morning (this idiot title specially applies to me as you will find out later in this post). At this point we continue to talk more shit and Paxter continues to pile on Ser Cam. I don't remember the time, but at some point morningsword leaves as she has to drive back home. Paxter leaves around 1pm I think. And I get ready to leave as well. But Ser Cam, a.k.a the Great Other, asks me for one last drink.

At this point I think, "one more drink, this won't take long". Alas, the Great Other does not know the meaning of "1 last drink". By "1 last drink". he actually meant 3 more shots and 3 more beers. Cause that was what we ended up having before the night ended. Which was at 4am :dunno:. So, how did we get there?

Well, you see when we finished that last drink, the Great Other guilt tripped me, "I haven't drank in 15 years! C'mon, one more shot......and two more beer!" he said. So a sweet innocent sydney sider like me couldn't help but oblige :P. This of course turned into another round, this time turning into two shot and a beer. At this point the bartenders cut our supply, much to Ser Cam's dismay. He was really hitting it off with the bartenders and I am very sure he got their numbers...as well as the number of half the bar. All of whom now knew Ser Cam haven't drunk in 15 years and had a wonderful wife, cause he chatted up pretty much most of the bar at this point.

So with our line of supply cut off, we check the clock and see its 4am. Surprised, we both head off and try to find Cam's hotel. We walk there, me taking a piss break on the way, for which i get caught by some dude who politely asks me not to piss on a heritage building (near Central). It was totally worth it :P. After saying farewell at Cam's hotel, I head off to the nearest station and take a nap while on the nightrider on my way back home. I get home, take a shower, collect my stuff and head straight out as I had a training at north sydney that morning 8am. Sleepless, drunk and cursing Ser Cam every 5 min, I headed off to what turned out to be a really really really long 8 hours of training.

It was good to catch up with Ser Cam and morningsword, Overall a pretty great night (some more than others :P) :cheers:

I think ithanos is going too (NZ's part of Oz, right?). Ser Cam will be there but he won't be drinking beer with you, as I believe he's "never drinking again". We'll see .... :)
