Aegnor
Definitely a good actor. I've seen him in Rome and The Eclipse (no not that stupid Twilight movie). He's not exactly who I pictured, but I'm sure it will work well.
Gertrude
Gonna echo others - not what I imagined, but he's a great actor and I trust in the casting crew. Overall very pleased.
Crown
He never even crossed my mind, but I can see him playing Mance. My anticipation for next season has grown, a lot.
Braavosi Sealady
Same here, his name never crossed my mind when thinking about Mance (another one who see him as Doran) but he's very talented so I'm curious to see what he'll do with the character. dtones520
I think he is about the right age. Mance isn't suppose to be a young guy if he is described with grey hair with lines on his face. This guy can pull it off.Yeah, I think a lot of people picture Mance as way younger than he actually is. I would picture Mance, in the books, in his late 40s or early 50s. Considering they have aged everyone up in the show, for the most part, I'd say a 60 year old playing Mance is fine.Plus he is a great actor. I'd rather them get a great actor playing the role than one that looks exactly like the way they are described in the books.

Nymphetamine
Big fan of his, he was great on Rome...that show had so much potential. Not exactly what I had in mind for Mance but I'm sure it will be great.
Braavosi Sealady
Can he sing? Can he fight? He was Firmin in the film adaptation of "The Phantom of the Opera". He singed a few times in the movie (read somewhere he had singing classes). He's not exceptional but I think he can pull that off ;)About the fight not idea :P
Sand11751
He'll be great; not who I expected but I prefer him better as Mance than Do-nothing Doran.
Dawn Age
He can sing fine, Anyone can sound great on screen with vocal training
Werthead
Excellent. They did mention in S1 that Mance was King-beyond-the-Wall more than a decade before the events of the series, so he was always going to be older than in the books. West would have been great, but I think Hinds has the potential to be even better.
lojzelote
Holy sh*t, I think I'll give the show another chance! :stunned:
Ser Greguh
I love Hinds, and I think he's a positively phenomenal actor, but I don't like him as The Mance. He looks exactly like someone that could unite the Seven Kingdoms behind him, but not like someone that could use his wit, charm, and prowess to unite the Free Folk, nor someone that could slip past the Wall and blend in perfectly at Robert's feast at Winterfell. I'm sure they'll adjust the character to make him more Hinds-like, but that's a change that I certainly see as a negative. The Wildlings follow fire, he's ice.If he has the range to prove me wrong then I'll be ecstatic.
_Oberyn_
I was hopping Ciaran was going to be either Doran or Randyll Tarly. Now lets hpe he can sing :P
turinturambar1
I'think his to old to be mance , he is to young to be doran but Areo Hoath would be awsome
King of the Road
I don't care what part he plays, I've wanted him in this series from the moment it was announced. Great casting!
boojam
Quite a coup.I am thinking D and D would have loved to have him, same almost A-list type as Bean, but would think the part was offered to some others first. He may have asked HBO or had his agent.Maybe a script came his way and like Charles Dance, took the part because he liked the writing.I wonder what his contract looks like? I mean he is in demand right now, 3 movies, and the Political Animals mini series. His involvement may have to more than even two seasons.Lord he has the chops, maybe more than Bean had.One of the finest actors around right now, gives the whole Wall scenario some real class. sertravisredbeard
I like the choice but he seems a bit too "kingly". Whenever Jon first meets him in the book doesn't he think Tormund or Styr are the king-beyond-the-wall? Maybe since I mainly know him as Julius Caesar, Hinds has a pretty regal bearing to me. Still an awesome choice though.
Dawn Age
So many people made a mistake judging an actor before they put him in make up and costume. I've always imagined Mance as an aging warrior like Jorah or Barristan but more agile than men half their age. Or more than modern day 20 year olds. Corvinus85
I am confident that HBO has made a good decision with this one.Ave Caesar
