Okay, I have the most irrelevant to the plot question ever

BUT

where do they get all the mules from!?

Seems like people are always using mules for things

It just doesn't make sense how they could get so many mules when they actually can't breed them

?????

Presumably they get their mules the same way we get ours....breeding a female horse with a male donkey.

Ok another silly question: ladies can wear only the colors of their houses (paternal and those houses they are married into?) Because I remember that Cat said that she wore Tully's red and blue and that when Alaine looking for something to wear it was mentioned that Lysa's dresses were Arryn's blue and white.

What, no. Cersei wears forest green to bring out the colour of her eyes, widow's black, Lannister crimson and virgin white. Sansa wears a lot of blue, although I wish she had a dress or two in green.

I might be wrong but I think the old fart has sons, and that if he died his eldest would inherit the castle, not Sylva.

I should of thought of that. I looked it up and the old fart has 2 sons Aemon and Lomas and 2 grandsons Alyn and Andrew who is also listed as Edrick Storm's guardian.

While I was doing that I noticed Stannis's mother was Lady Cassana of House Eastermont so it must be a pretty significant House.

Perhaps someone knows what happens to the stepmoms when dad shuffles off. I presume they land on their feet. She would at least be able to find someone else as Margaery did. She is still heir to House Santagar which makes inheritance of actual House Estermont no big deal.

Another question.

Why and how was Jaqen H'ghar imprisoned to begin with? What was his reason for being in Westeros?

It's seems rather unprofessional for a FM to be captured while on a mission, unless being caught was a part of the mission.

i'm thinking his mission was to get info on dragons, and the only place we know of that has books on them are the library at Castle Black at the Wall, and The Citadel in Oldtown.

if he does something planned, and knowingly gets caught, and knows in this society that prisoners have the Wall option, that is an easy way to get an escort through the country to the Wall to carry it out. and once this plan fell apart, the next place we see him is at The Citadel, to continue his mission.

This doesn't really make sense. Why wouldn't he just willingly take the black rather than be captured and hope to be sent to the wall? Not to mention that when he and Arya split up she wants him to come north with her, but he says he has other things to do across the Narrow sea.

I don't think we're likely to ever find out how or why he was imprisoned, and to he honest, I'd be surprised if we ever see him again. I think that one of the strongest things about the character was how mysterious he was, so from a narrative standpoint it's better to leave us guessing than spell it out for us.

Also, RumHam, every time I see your username it makes me chuckle.

Hasnt GRRM himself said he has no idea why Jaqen was in prison? and looked surprised at the question - something about the readers looking so deeply into the narrative. If HE doesnt know then people like me would think it isnt knowable. Perhaps I err.

Random question: I'm still on Clash of Kings, but I was reading a lot of forums that were saying that pretty much nothing happens for the next 3 books. Is this true? Should I keep reading up to Dance With Dragons? I am really enjoying the books so far, but don't see the point of reading if he doesn't progress the storyline too far :/

Keep reading, and then re-read to catch all the little hints and prophecies that seem meanlingless untill further in to the story. As stated in another reply these books have multi layers. Since you are on this forum I am assuming that you really want to know and understand the whole story not just the "first layer". In ASOS there will be so much action you will be breathless.

Uno mas. What's the consensus on what R+L=J means for how we interpret the events of Robert's Rebellion, (and the fifteen year peace we see followed by the events of the books)? It seems to me like this is probably one of the biggest tragedies ever to occur in Westeros, a huge misunderstanding that could have probably been averted and costed thousands of lives. What do yall think?

I quite like this. Like Jaqen was just in KL on an unrelated contract, it all kicked off & he just improvised an escape from KL. Who's to say he was even in the Black Cells? I assume Yoren didn't go down there to collect them himself, he could have just seen it as the best way to get out of the city & sneaked himself into Yoren's party. However, the connection of Varys to the Black Cells (& Jaqen's being in them) seems a little too coincidental for me.

It was not worded exactly like that. I mean, to me the answer didn't quite imply "Why the hell are you asking me this?".

And yet, I think he wasn't there on purpose. Pretty much what RumHam said, it doesn't really make any sense, Add to this his cool ability to change faces. People always bring this up with theories like Jaqen = Syrio, but fail to mention this cool ability when considering "aren't there easier and safer ways for him to get to his destination". Plus there was never a guarantee that hey would get sent to the wall. Plus, he was really going to die in that fire. It would have been an outrageously dumb move. And the best way for any infiltration that a guy who can change faces thinks of is to get imprisoned and to hope they will send him to the wall? I don't think so.

And I do think we will hear more from him. He is in Oldtown posing as Pate. And this could also have been used as a plot device to Martin. "FM are so cool and change faces and are omnipotent!!. Ok, well one got caught by the gold cloaks and imprisoned. Are they really?"

Why was Jaqen tied to Rorge and Biter? Surely he's seen plenty of men killed... why was it important for him to pay back those two lives in addition to his own?

I think it was just the fact that she "stole" three lives so they had to be paid back. Pretty sure it didn't have anything in particular with those two.

Stupid small question.. did Lady Hornwood die? I know they found her with her fingers eaten off, but I can't figure out if she actually died of starvation.. It will take me a long time to find that in the texts, so I'm being lazy and asking here.. :)

You know.. I just thought of something.. If she did die, wouldn't she have died of dehydration first if the bastard of bolton just locked her away and forgot about her?

She was locked away after she married Ramsay. She was eventually found dead, with blood around her mouth and her fingers chewed off.
