Jon of the Dead
Me neither. I probably was too busy getting over how lame and out of the blue Aegon's reveal was
DarkAndFullOfTurnips
I caught it when Tyrion thinks "He might yet be a true Targaryen" or something along those lines. That skepticism got me thinking he was just some boy but I didn't formulate a theory quite as sophisticated as the popular one we have now. Actually I didn't come up with a theory at all, to be honest.
Faydra
I realised from the beginning that he is fake, although I never understood why. I learned about the Blackfyre plot on the forums.
Arthur Dayne's Honor
I immediately had the thought of HE'S A BLACKFYRE! Though it was simply out of reasoning that I thought that they would have some future significance. It was just a thought at the time though, now I truly believe it due to these forums. assjfjgjsgjljljglgjfjsduar
It took me a while before I pieced together the Blackfyre angle, but I knew when I first read it that he was an impostor. Mostly because I could see how well the series mirrored the Wars of the Roses, and Young Griff was, to my mind, clearly pulling a Perkin Warbeck. Subsequent readings and analysis and discussion only bolstered the conclusion I originally came up with. I finished the book knowing that this kid was not Aegon, plain as day. Queen Alysanne™
I never believed he was Aegon I always had my doubts, it just didnt feel right for him to pop out of nowhere, especiallywhen we already have Dany and Jon alive.
Ser Creighton
Never believed it for a second. Don't care who he is either, he is a means to an end for the author and for a character or two.
Queen Alysanne™
I doubt he is real, but it would be sad if he dies and after that we find out he is the real one.Again I doubt that would happen.
Foothill
I wasn't sure, but I thought it was a little too good to be true.
Arya kiddin'
Actually I as too excited to even think otherwise. Maybe that was what GRRM was going with anyway. :)
Roadside Rose
It was only after I read the forums, i started thinking Aegon as fake. I didn't intially think of him as fake mainly cause I thought his story was a parallel to Astyanax. Astyanax was the son of Hector, Crown Prince of Troy. During the sack of Troy he was believed to have been thrown from the Walls of Troy and killed. But another story suggests that he was switched with a slaves baby. So when Astyanax grows up he arrives in Sicily and becomes king of Messina. This is why I believed Aegon could be real. But now, I do doubt Aegon's identity. DaarioBigalowTyroshiGigolo
I didn't suspect anything until I reread the book and at that point I felt that he wasn't all that he seemed to be (possible fake). It wasn't until I started reading the forums and learned more about House Blackfyre that I started to subscribe to the Aegon Blackfyre theory. Timothy Quentin Cray
I thought something may be amiss just because it would be an odd time to introduce a previously hidden 'hero' into the series at this point, especially one who could frustrate Dany's return to Westeros. But I hadn't absorbed anywhere near enough back story to make the Blackfyre link, like manypeople who came to the books via the HBO series I was too excited about getting the the end of the series so I could pick up GoT and start again!. The Dornishman's Wife
Me neither. I probably was too busy getting over how lame and out of the blue Aegon's reveal wasI see what you did there :DTo the question at hand, I considered him being randomly fake during my first read and thought it very unlikely, so I considered him to be probably the real deal. Until I learned the Blackfyre theory that is, and that one just makes too much sense.
The hairy bear
Many of the old timers of the forum have been expecting the appearance of a fake Aegon since ACOK, due to Dany's visions in The House of the Undying and a mail from GRRM refusing to confirm the young prince's death (but confirming Rhaella's).So I was convinced Aegon VI was a fake from the first minute. hardhome
I first heard it from a fourm Elio's youtube videos ( I forget which)I'm still keeping an open mind about his legitimacy but It might as well have been this forum where the possibility came up.
