Is he even being given a fair chance to fight his place though? Granted, he picked up an injury but he was declared fit and returned to full training before the Liverpool game yet he has not had a look in. He should have at least played against Fenerbahce. If he doesn't get game time against Burnley then I'd say he will be off in January.

Not on the pitch, but as far as we know he's training with the team. Whatever it is that's happened, whether these rumours are true or not, there has to have been something gone on behind closed doors.

Like I say, Jose's a bellend and I wouldn't write off it being all on him, but the noises coming out at the moment don't make Mkhi look great in this either.

Possibly or perhaps it is a case of Mourinho being too harsh. Given the way he treated Shaw after that one mistake against Watford, it's not such a far-fetched thought.

Is it me, or has Navas' crossing improved considerably?

He has the odd game where he puts in decent crosses. A lot of City players played with too much fear under Pellegrini for some reason, Navas and Sterling in particular. Pep seems to have instilled more confidence in some players so whether Navas' crossing has improved or not is debatable. Might just be a bit of the Pep effect.

United play their (pretty much) first XI against City's back-ups.  Jose needs a win to not lose massive face.  It would have been better for him to play all the overlooked players instead.  Less blame if they lose and possibly see one or two play themselves into contention.  But if he's unwilling to even consider those overlooked players....

Klopp was willing to trust his back-ups last night and we haven't even been playing in Europe.

Chelsea and West Ham both play pretty much their first team (Costa rested for a while), which is a bit surprising.  And WH winning so far.  And Southampton's rotated team is struggling to score against Sunderland's first XI -- they should hang their heads in shame.

There's far less pressure on Klopp than Mourinho. He played a lot of the back-ups in Europe, he just doesn't want to lose to City again.

Well, at least it's a win, but that was another snorefest from both teams.

United will be looking to pick up a lot of points from the following games while other contenders play each other.

Pogba at least had good work rate today. Valencia still perfect at right back. Bailly's injury is a concern, a bigger burden on Smalling's frail shoulders and Blind will get caught out as a central defender as well.

Rooney also not included in the squad btw.
