Archmaester Drew
Aerth I like this -- but I think Planetos is fairly well entrenched at this point. :)
H.P.
But seriously, the word Planetos doesn't really follow Martin's naming rules. It's Westeros, not Westos; Essos, not Eastos, and Sothoroyos, not Southos. He doesn't simply put an os at the end of words. So why should it simply be Planetos? Rather, it should be, like, Polanotoyos, or something.

The One And Only
We already have Middle-Earth. So what about Beginning-Earth?
Steelborn
Since you guys came up with Eros, I propose Gaiaos. Still not as fine as Planetos to be honest.

ChillyPolly
We already have Middle-Earth. Actually, the term "Middle Earth" was never meant (by Tolkien) to refer to "my fictional world as distinct from the real world". It is merely an Old English term for the ordinary mundane World (as distinct from the supernatural realms that surround it). Nor was Tolkien the first modern author to use the term "middle earth" in a fantasy context. E.R. Eddison beat him to it.
Valyrian Lance
Well the lion's share of the continents on earth came from currently dead languages like Latin and Ancient Greek, while the name for the planet came from Old English. So if we assume that Westeros, Essos...etc came from the Old Tongue, the world for the Planet should come from High Valyrian the precursor to one of the more commonly spoken languages on the planet Bastard Valyrian. thenedstark
How about "Earth"? At least, that is what GRRM (or one of his co-authors) calls it in The World of Ice and Fire: Today the Summer Islanders are a common sight in Oldtown and King’s Landing, and the swan ships with their billowing clouds of sails traverse all the seas of earth. Ferocious Veldt Roarer
How about "Earth"? At least, that is what GRRM (or one of his co-authors) calls it in The World of Ice and Fire: Noticed. Unfortunately, that's also how we call the planet we live on.
Consigliere
World of Ice and Fire or Earth. Planetos is a dumb name but nowhere near as stupid as the fucking godawful GRRTH.
