What are you listening to? Vol XVII: Fragments of the past flash before my eyes

Probably Starman if I'm being boring, but hell I really like Moonage Daydream too. They're all good (lame answer) xD

It is difficult to pick the best song on that album. I might go for Moonage Daydream, although Starman, It Ain't Easy and Ziggy Stardust wouldn't be far behind.

Saw Russian Circles live in Williamsburg, aka the Portland of the East Coast, about a week ago and they killed it. This was a highlight

Also finally got around to listening to Brad Mehldau, and particularly his music with Pat Metheny and...damn son where'd you find this.

And of course this wouldn't be complete without the ultimate ironic ignorant rap jam of 2014

Re-discovering the soundtrack to Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla, so many great tracks!

My favorite song from the soundtrack from my second favorite dance scene of all time.

Eels - Novocaine For The Soul

Cults - Make Time

Paul Weller - Wild Blue Yonder

The Verve - Appalachian Springs

Loooove that song.

I'm listening to Diamanda Galas' version of I Put a Spell on You. Great stuff, DEFINITELY not for everyone, but totally my cup of tea.

I Put a Spell on You is a spooky song, it’s creepy, a little frightening and undeniably sexy. The Animals version (also one of my favourite songs) is possessive and also seductive, but there’s something really mystical with a female vocal to this song, especially one as wild, chaotic and expressive as Diamanda Galas’ version; the way she screams and sings makes her sound like she could in fact be a jealous, unhinged witch; making her the perfect person to cover this particular song. Fantastic.

This version is crazy, it’s creepy, it’s strange, it’s gothic and frightening and it’s also kinda sexy.

Off-topic: Thea is that you in that photo?

Also, I give you the NSFW magic of Aoora.

Yes it is.

Try the Jeff Beck/Joss Stone version from his latest album Emotion and Commotion. Haven't heard many other versions (knowingly) so I can't say how it stands up next to them, but definitely worth a listen.

cheers. Will listen. I pretty much love every single version of I Put a Spell on You tbh. It's suuuch a good song.
