Dorian Martell
At this rate we can hope for the last novel in 2021 at the earliest http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/jan/30/george-rr-martin-the-winds-of-winter-publication
Kaminsod
Was anyone honestly surprised by this? GRRM writes at the pace of a snail slithering through Vaseline and molasses. The gape between AFFC and ADWD was 6 years, and that was just splitting up what should have been a singular work.

If D&D have their way, it'll feature a dragon riding tyrion having threeways with Dany and Arianne while doing barrel rolls on the moon.

Deadlines? What Deadlines?
GRRM has said that unless news regarding the 6th book comes from his (not a) blog, don't buy it. Plus, the statement from the publisher is not that the book won't come in 2015; it's that there are no (current) plans to publish in 2015. If Martin delivers a finished manuscript in the next few months, we'll probably see a book by the end of the year. Although, I have no idea how long it would take to edit a manuscript that size. DraculaAD1972
I think GRRM needs to chill out, take his time. He can be criticised for not being more realistic about the show going ahead and telling the tale first. His comments about catching up with the show were not totally honest perhaps. At best they were wildly optimistic. At the end of the day, thank god for the tv show. I actually think GRRM should stop writing the books altogether until the tv show is finished, and instead write more episodes for the show. This. It still makes sense for it to come out this year. All indications to this point have been Winds is being written comparatively faster than Dance was. It was 5 years (2006 to 2011) from Feast to Dance, it will be 4 this fall from Dance to Winds. Until Martin or the publisher definitively says not this year I am thinking it's this year. ChillyPolly
GRRM has said that unless news regarding the 6th book comes from his (not a) blog, don't buy it. I still believe Anne Groell about the (only) 168 pages submitted by June 2014. So a corollary of the above is: doubt good news, but believe admissions against interest. Dorian Martell
you know what this means, right? the rate of troll threads and boredom posts will increase. What if the author wrote something different? Who can fight who? Euron and Varys are everyone. Everyone who is dead is still alive? Yes. All these and more If D&D have their way, it'll feature a dragon riding tyrion having threeways with Dany and Arianne while doing barrel rolls on the moon. That's kinda rad actually I suppose this happens when you take on 12 side projects while writing a book. Yup. GRRM has said that unless news regarding the 6th book comes from his (not a) blog, don't buy it. It is a minimum 6 months between the completion of the book and publishing. So far, they have nothing. If he finishes tomorrow in will be july before we see anything even if they rush it Depends how many times he says words are wind Ha!
The Prince Not Promised
Not much to be done for it. It's been pretty clear for awhile now that the show would beat the books to the finish line. Even more so, there's a fair chance we never see the books finished. There isn't a whole lot more to be said on it than that.

There's an analysis somewhere that shows (based on word count) his pace is roughly the same as JL Rowlings and faster than some other writers. I still believe Anne Groell about the (only) 168 pages submitted by June 2014. So a corollary of the above is: doubt good news, but believe admissions against interest.
