mystickristoff
Is it customary in Westoros to wait for a woman to bleed before marrying her? Joffrey didn't marry Sansa until she had her period right? Or did he just didn't have sex with her until she had a period?

SouthernIslander
This is an in-universe misconception that's well present in many Westerosi minds: Robert started a war over Lyanna. But he did nothing of that. He may remember it that way for romantic reasons. We know for fact indeed that Jon Arryn started a Rebellion against Aerys II over the life of Robert and Eddard. It was about bringing Aerys Targaryen down, so Robert and Eddard might live as Lords paramount of the Stormlands and the North and their lines to continue. eta: As it happened, Robert and Eddard turned out to be very capable, formidable and charismatic leaders and took over the lead of the Robellion, so in the end, shortly before the battle of the Trident, the question came up of what to do after vicrory and Robert won the argument on grounds of his Targaryen granny making him closest related to the current line of kings. What's the source on the pre-Trident discussion that led to placing Robert on the throne?
RumHam
What's the source on the pre-Trident discussion that led to placing Robert on the throne? We don't know that it was pre-Trident, just that it was around the Battle of the Trident. http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/128606-small-questions-v-10100/?p=7041279

Knight Of Winter
any idea what's going on with galbart glover and maege mormont? Their whereabouts still being unknown, they're one of the currently biggest Chekov's guns in the series. GNC (Grand Nothern conspiracy) theory hypothesizes that they're somehow in contact with other pro-Stark northern lords, and are plotting together with them. Are these Cage Match write-ups collected anywhere? I think they might be of interest to mystickristoff. I could only find Jaime v. Lord Godric
For what was Littlefinger given the title Lord Paramount of the Trident and what power does that give him?
RumHam
For what was Littlefinger given the title Lord Paramount of the Trident and what power does that give him? He was given the title as a reward for basically saving King's Landing by bringing the Tyrells onto the Lannister side after Renly's death. I can't remember if Tywin also did it so he would be of high enough standing to marry Lysa and bring the Vale into the fold. But that was at least Littlefinger's primary motivation for wanting the title. In theory he is the leader of the Riverlands, but in practice he's never visited his castle and probably knows most of the Riverlords would chafe at taking orders from someone as low born as him. As far as we know he hasn't even tried to exert an influence over the Riverlands.
mystickristoff
Jaime admitted to himself the following: [brienne of Tarth] is stronger than I am. The realization chilled him. Robert had been stronger than him, to be sure. The White Bull Gerold Hightower as well, in his heyday, and Ser Arthur Dayne. Amongst the living, Greatjon Umber was stronger, Strongboar of Crakehall most likely, both Cleganes for a certainty. The Mountain's strength was like nothing human. It did not matter. With speed and skill, Jaime could beat them all. But this was a woman. A huge cow of a woman, to be sure, but even so . . . by rights, she should be the one wearing down. Based on this passage, who were the 3 people that Jaime said could best him in a fight? Clearly he already admits that with speed and skill he could best those mentioned above. Estheros
Are there any Freys in the Night watch? Just a random thought, Jon would have thought of it.
aryagonnakill#2
mystickristoff, I don't understand your question, that quote doesn't say anything about Jaime thinking 3 people could beat him. It seems clear that Jaime does not think anyone could beat him in his prime.
mystickristoff
Some guy made a post at a GOT Fan page on Facebook asking who did Jaime mean when he said that there's 3 men that could probably best him in a fight. That statement probably originated from the show, when Jaime was being escorted by Brienne. I'm willing to assume that Garlan Tyrell or Barristan Selmy would be 2 of the 3 but that's my guess.
