Did anyone else think that the initial voice we hear in the trailer, saying 'he's gone' was that of Rory McCann, who plays the Hound?  Perhaps it's Sandor speaking about himself, saying 'The Hound' is gone!

The first time I watched it, I thought Davos. I've rewatched it a few more times, and I'm convinced it's Thorne.

Why would the Umbers side with the Boltons?

In the books, wasn't one of them planning to side with the Boltons and the other going against them?

Spoiler

Could all be part of a grand plan. Let Ramsay think he has the Northern Lords behind him, then mid battle they all turn on the Boltons and wipe them out.

Regarding several unplaced scenes:

Spoiler

The seeming frenzied stabbing older children possibly in KL: either killing Pycelle or Kevan? No idea when, but probably late in season, after Varys returns from Mereen, who's been said to take a ship from there.

The Waif striking Arya: in the trailer we see a spray of blood, and we also see a shot of blind Arya with healing lashes on her face. This seems to be the Waif taking on the role of the kindly man who strikes Blind Beth in her training to use her other senses. So it must be early in the season, since Arya was blinded at the end of S5.

I'm very ambivalent with the scene where Arthur Dayne wielding 2 swords. Sound so Hollywood and cheesy, but at the same time, hoping it's going to be decent cuz it said that the producer went to find the best fighter to be cast as Arthur Dayne.

I suppose we don't really know how the fight at the TOJ unfolds, other than who dies and who survives and which of the survivors owe their live to the other. Still though nobody needs a repeat of the twirl and spin cutfest that was the Mountain vs the Viper.

All the Secrets Hidden in Game of Thrones' Brand New Trailer

Jon is in a battle

OK, I agree this is Jon.

My thoughts on Jon in the trailer:

1) lying dead

2) Davos is protecting John's body from NW

3) Melisandre removes clothes and places hand on Jon

4) Davos or Mel commits suicide to save Jon (best is Davos gives his life force to Jon, and Mel gives her life force to her sword)

Pure,utter tinfoil

Also i realized something about that Mel scene where she's revealing her breast. It has taken resemblance to how Nissa Nissa bare her breast for Azor Ahai to sacrifice her to create Lightbringer, further backing up the speculation on Davos enacting the action on Mel to resurrect Jon.

I was going through the whole thread to see if anyone else had this thought. It was what I immediately thought. She isn't seducing anyone, she is preparing to sacrifice herself (my guess). Perhaps she realizes that all the things she had seen in the fires were Jon and not Stannis, and now to make amends, she is sacrificing herself to bring him back.

Not even. Riverlands, kingsmoot, Balon's death, the Greyjoys coming for Dany, parts of the Northern storyline, Varys' move to assassinate Kevan, blind Arya, Mercy chapter, the Tower of Joy , and parts of the Meereen storyline,

Ah, I forgot about some of those events. I guess it would be more accurate to say that after this season, we'll all be on pretty even ground.

Spoiler

Probably mid-season since Kevan being kill off before Cersei's and Margaery's trial will fuel the doubt and bloodbath between 2 houses.

That's what I got from it too. Three possible scenario's for that

1) Davos intends to assassinate her like he wanted to in S3. This time she does not fight him, but bears her chest.

2) Davos prepared to do it per her request.

3) Resurrected Jon does it, but no idea why he would want to.

Personally, the first option seems to make the most sense to me at least based on how the show established Davos versus Mel, but "show" and "making sense" do not add up for me anymore. For all I know, Davos becomes a convert and believer, and Mel is the one who stops believing. :whoknows:

Maybe she's going to sleep with Jon? That's the direction it seems to be going with Jon in the books anyways

Two quick points.

1) Not sure if anyone has said it but the armor of the King's guard probably changed from one dynasty to the next. Why would Robert, who hates Targs, keep his protectors in Targ armor. Once the war was over, the uniform was probably changed to what it is today. Hence the difference in armor.

2) Why does everyone assume that Mel needs to give up her life or Davos' life to raise Jon. Thoros did no such thing when he brought back Beric. He was able to bring him back without death and only via pray multiple times. The only time that a sacrific was needed was when Cat needed to be bring back. This tells me that Thoros can only bring back one person at a time. If he needs to bring someone else back, he has to release the other person and they die. Mel has no one else that she has brought back, so she is free to bring Jon back without sacrifice. Ghost is safe, Mel is safe, Davos is safe.

1) I don't mind the Targ-dragon sign on the armor, but KG wear white, not black. KG tower is called the White Tower. The book that preserves their deed is called the White Book.

Spoiler

And ToJ dream mentions white cloaks

2) I don't assume Mel needs to give up her life. But the non-lustful, but instead worried and frightened facial expression of Mel combined with opening the front of her dress reminds me of Nissa Nissa. (And I dislike "x will be y's Nissa Nissa in general when it comes up in book plot speculations).

As for Thoros: Thoros didn't resurrect Cat anyhow. He refused to do it. So, Beric passed the magic that kept him alive on to Cat. But cannoincally something must be sacrifficed for a resurrection... Only death can pay for life. This was true for Dany waking dragons from stone as well. Just a good bonfire without Drogo, MMD and Rhaego would not have done the trick.

Looking frightened? Don't see the foreshadowing to argue that Mel will sleep with Jon in the books "anyways".

Or:

- they think that viewers won't understand that those men aren't the same Kingsguards as in current KG

- they'll give each KG personalised armor with some regerence to their own houses so the viewer will know who is who during fight

- the KG abandoned their duty to the king so they wear normal armors with Rhaegar's sigil and Targaryen decorations. So Gerold Hightower will have normal KG armor (Aerys sent him to find Rhaegar so he still keeps his vow) but Whent and Dayne won't as they are deserters.

In all GoT History and Lore episodes Targaryen KGs have the same armor as Robert's... Barristan, Lewyn, Arryk Cargyll, Dragonknight, Dunk and Criston Cole. The videos aren't show canon though.

Mel may let Davos kill her for what she did with Stannis and Shireen.

But Jon love red-headed women. And this is the perfect opportunity for Mel to make shadow babies.

Jk. But i'm serious on the former. Don't forget that Jon will be a darker character, he might as well bone Mel just because his love for red headed women.

All in all this seems kind of like an inconsequential detail.  Yeah, I know it somewhat goes against the books, but it's a costume design decision more than anything, and black was a color of House Targaryen.
