The rumour mill concerning Heynckes successor at Bayern has a new name. Earlier this week Hasenhüttl (Leipzig) has ruled himself out, and now the latest name is Christian Streich (Freiburg). Streich is a sound guy and he has done a wonderful job at Freiburg (developing talents, and taking the club into the right direction generally), however I doubt he would fit into the Bayern enviroment (different set of players, different media pressure), and I also doubt that he is particularly interested in giving his position with a pretty high job satisfaction to jump into that shark tank in Munich. (I think it'll be either Tuchel or Löw at the end of the day who'll get the job at the end of the day).

I would have thought Streich would be too outspoken to ever be considered, even if he would want the job. Who knows what he would have to say about Bayern’s relationship with Qatar.

And Schalke seems to lose its other central midfielder with Max Meyer as he has apparently turned down another contract offer from the club. I am mildly curious to see where he'll end up.

From what I heard, Kicker were reporting that Meyer would like to stay in principle, but his agent was playing hardball as he has some issue with Schalke. That is also why Kehrer has not renewed - though I recall he did much the same a few years back when he threatened to join Inter. Hopefully it is true, but it does seem like a very short sighted thing for an agent to do - as you are easily the most expendable one if club and player agree.

Ryan Sessegnon’s up to 14 goals in the Championship. Not a bad effort for a 17 year old left back.

He has scored the vast majority of those since moving to the left wing in January. Even still that is remarkbale from a player whose childhood hero was Luke Shaw.

Being outspoken among those alphas (Hoeneß and Rummenigge) isn't necessarily a bad thing. For them it's more like if they believe in him being the right signing. They've put with Sammer as director of football, who isn't particularly quiet either.

I am not sure the kicker is right on the money on this one. Meyer was supposed to step and fill Draxler's boots at Schalke (after he buggered off to Wolfsburg). For most parts he has been disappointing from their pespective, so they tried to offload him for quite some time. Now with Tedesco, Schalke has finally figured out a way how to use him. So I can see how he might have mixed feelings about signing a new contract with a club that told him to get lost less than a year ago. Kehrer simply wanted more first team action (more or less guaranteed), that's to a good degree the reason why Schalke had offloaded Höwedes earlier (well, that and Naldo being a much better overall footballer, who was better suited for Tedesco's idea of football).

Anyway, this time Meyer is in a very good position to check out the market. He is young and he's been playing a very good season thus far, so there should be a market for him. If not in Germany, then maybe in Spain.

The PL relegation battle looks very difficult to call yet.  So many teams are close in points and most of them play each other in the remaining nine games.  Aside from WBA, who look lost already, Stoke have really tough fixtures against the top teams; Palace can’t seem to win when Zaha is missing and they have a huge injury list; Newcastle can’t score enough; West Ham have David Moyes, FBs everywhere, and the new manager bounce looks long past .... several teams have their unique problem that weigh heavily, while there are some like Southampton, Stoke and Everton who have squads that should be too strong for relegation but are flailing lately.  Yes, Stoke are on both lists.

Realistically Everton probably are safe now with 34 points.  They’d have to lose pretty much all of their remaining games to go down (36 is now the projected cut-off).  But even so this spell should be the end of Allardyce as a manager.  Moyes too.

Grand Old Team has a poll on Facebook: «Do you want Allardyce, Lee and Shakespeare at Everton next season?»

Currently 12 800 votes.

94% no.

#Allardiciout!

Just to follow up, things are looking up indeed for Allardici. After 17 100 votes has been cast, the «no»-vote is down to 93%. Great news for Samuele, probably reflects the good job he’s doing!

#Allardiciout!

Tragic, no doubt, but cancelling all the matches seems like a bit of an overreaction.

Thought the same thing at first but eh lots of the guys around the league are probably friends with him. Cant imagine playing a few hours after hearing about his death. Especially his teammates.

What a start for Brighton

Come on Brighton! Couple more goals might see Wenger escorted from the premises this week.

Like that is ever going to happen. The whole point of extending Wenger's contract was to give Piers Morgan a stroke on twitter. That didn't happen (thus far), so Wenger will stay.
