polishgenius
Gareth Southgate recently defended a decision to leave Grealish out of the side coz England need pace down the left. That's Bellerin he's toasting while also keeping the ball under control.

Hereward
So, the FA chairman pitched up to a parliamentary committee to talk about diversity in football and proceeded to ritually disembowl himself. Impressive.

Iskaral Pust
The early reports are that it’s a serious injury for Gomez, but no details yet. Why are any clubs releasing players for international duty right now while they’re all on the cusp of injury?
A Horse Named Stranger
They have to, I think. The more interesting/relevant question is: Why is Southgate insisting on calling up his best squad for those games and not giving the players with highgest workload (who are active in the European competitions and/or have not had a season break) a rest? It would provide him with an opportunity to see how his depth option/younger players would fare.
ljkeane
Ffs. It's always annoying when players get injured on England duty but it's particularly annoying now given it's ridiculous they've even playing these games anyway.
Consigliere
Solskjaer said that Rashford had picked up a knock against Everton but now reports are that he will be joining up with the England squad. Maguire will also probably play the full 90 in all the games. Fuck Southgate.
AncalagonTheBlack
Fuck these internationals.Fuck FIFA the greedy bastards.Fuck the PL for not going with 5 subs. Rumour is that Joe has a broken knee/leg
AncalagonTheBlack
So either City or Chelsea to win the PL this season is my bet. Don't want that prick Lampard to win it as manager, hoping Pep can do it again this season.

Soylent Brown
There doesn't seem to be too much of a point in getting angry about the Gomez situation, as he'd be training anyway, international call-up or not. The resulting problems are still mostly our fault, really, what with our love of collecting glass centre backs.
AncalagonTheBlack
According to Southgate: Quote “I can’t tell you how serious it is but he was in a fair bit of pain. AncalagonTheBlack
https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/415703-joe-gomez-injury-update-liverpool-england Quote England have announced Joe Gomez has withdrawn from the squad for their forthcoming internationals after sustaining a knee injury in training. The defender will undergo further diagnosis on the issue with Liverpool’s medical team. Gomez will therefore miss the Three Lions’ fixtures with Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland during the current international break. England manager Gareth Southgate told a press conference on Wednesday evening: “I can’t tell you how serious it is because he is yet to have scans. What was upsetting was to see he was in a fair bit of pain and there was nobody around him when the injury happened, so I didn’t like that element of it. “We’ve just got to wait and see what the scans show. We’re all hopeful for him that it’s not what it might be but it is not a good situation and I don’t see him being involved in the games with us, that’s for sure.”
AncalagonTheBlack
Update on Gomez: He's had surgery today for Patellar tendon injury. Quote A total recovery of a patellar tendon rupture takes about 6 months normally, but many patients reported that they required 12 months before reaching their goals. I’m disappointed for Liverpool, of course, but really disappointed for Joe personally. He’s had a tough road with injuries (and three of his long term injuries have occurred now on international duty), but this one comes at a huge point in his career. He could have been the main CB of a title winning team this season, proving that he could succeed without VVD alongside him. At only 23, this was a potentially huge opportunity for him.
