It ended poorly but he was excellent for us. yeah, but most of your recent appointments didn't end well. I mean, let's exclude the close to retirement players that got the wear the armband (Arteta and Mertesacker). RvP, forced a move after one (?) season as captain to United. Fabregas also forced a move, altho he served three years, which is ok. Xhaka snapped at the fans after a good while of abuse, and had the armband removed. Auba we know how that ended. Vermaelen didn't live up to the armband.
ljkeane
You don’t want to read too much into preseason given you don’t know how undercooked or not sides are at various points but we’ve been all over City for the first 20 minutes. Better than the other way round anyway.
Iskaral Pust
Usually it’s Liverpool who look undercooked in preseason as the fitness sessions take priority over the matches. I think it’s the right call to ease Nunez in gradually. Diaz was very unusual in how quickly he settled but Nunez looks to need more time to build his interplay. That said, with Jota missing the entire pre-season, Nunez may get forced into some playing time more quickly than ideal.
Consigliere
City players do look a bit less match fit than their Liverpool counterparts. Had a look a saw that City only played two games before this one (Club America and Bayern) whereas Liverpool have played four games before this. Soylent Brown
Joking aside, Firmino really has been awful. His first touch leaves him quicker than his shots do, and he's been trotting around the pitch looking like he's concussed for most of the half. I'm not sure we should be using him for anything other than early round cup games.
Soylent Brown
City are pressing more now, and we've gotten sloppy. It won't be long before they equalise.
A Horse Named Stranger
Meanwhile in the German Cup. First Round First Upsets. Köln crashed out against Regensburg. Which is not that big an upset, it's just Bundesliga against Bundesliga 2. Happens. Leverkusen crashed out against Elversberg (third tier), which is more surprising. Also Rostock (Bundesliga 2) lost their battle of the clubs with the orcish fans. They lost at Lübeck (4th tier).

Highly likely with Adrian in goal. He makes the whole back line nervous. Bobby off for Nunez in the second half would be lovely.
Corvinus85
What are the temps now in England? I see most people are wearing lighter clothing but there are still some oddballs wearing thick coats.

Soylent Brown
Nah, Ederson was out quickly, you can't blame Nunez there. And, Adrian does an Adrian and gifts City a goal.
Corvinus85
So if the goalie had both hands on the ball, isn't that a foul on him?
AncalagonTheBlack
Horrible goalkeeping by Adrian. But it all started by losing the ball i n midfield.Think it was Diaz.

Corvinus85
It's funny because the ball would have gone out if Diaz hadn't put his arm in the way. It was pretty bad header from Núñez.
Soylent Brown
The header wasn't on target, but defenders jumping into challenges with their hands in the air do so at their own peril. Mark Antony
