Megz
Well i like the name Cortnay Penrose, sounds so English and noble! Also I like Rhaenys (only first name) Others that go to my list: Olenna Tyrell Ellaria Sand Sansa Stark Quentyn Martell Daario Naharis All Baratheon brothers All Tully Brothers Jon Arryn I guess there are more, but these are what i can think of right now. As a whole GRRM has done a really amazing job with the names, unlike J.K. Rowling, if I may point out, HP names were hedious :)

ASOIAF_Ali
The name Courtnay bothers me, sounds too much like a modern female name. Maybe that's just me though. Love the name Victarion, suits the character so well. Oberyn and Cersei sound great too.
Orphalesion
I like the titles many of the characters have, because they sound like tey were ripped straight from an actual medieval chronicle: The Knight of Flowers The Smiling Knight Thee Queen of Throns The Rose of Highgarden The Prince of Dragonflies The Realm's Delight The Red Viper The Mountain that Rides The Blackfish The Young Wolf etc. etc. They are the perfect combination of creativity, originality and archetypal
Orphalesion
The name Courtnay bothers me, sounds too much like a modern female name. In our world Courtney (like Beverly, Ashley and Lesley) used to be a purely male name until relatively recent times.

I see, but with so many modern girls being named Courtney I just can't get that out of my head.

Orphalesion
I see, but with so many modern girls being named Courtney I just can't get that out of my head. I perfectly understand words and names can gain a specific meaning for us depending on how we are introduced to them. I was also rather surprised when I met my first male Lesley. ASOIAF_Ali
I perfectly understand words and names can gain a specific meaning for us depending on how we are introduced to them. I was also rather surprised when I met my first male Lesley. I know exactly what you mean! I knew Lesley was also a guys name but it's still weird meeting a guy that is actually named Lesley. I didn't even know Courtney used to be a guys name, so when I read it I was just like...'what?'. Thanks for clarifying, it certainly makes it less jarring :D
