sausagekingchi
Wow. It was more than obvious Coldhands is coming. He will be the season ender. Do not expect to see Sam and Gilly next episode. They'll be back for episode 10.My only complaint this season has been the same for every season. They are having a terrible time with Bran's story, which I found fascinating in the books but simply nonexistent on the show. This season though is easily the best.I agree that the storyline they have cut short the most is Bran (followed by Jon, but they've done a decent job this season of getting his back on track with his relationship with Ygritte). The problem with Bran's storyline is it would involve a tremendous amount of FX to pull off and make it convincing and that is simply out of their budget. They'll need to figure out how to get the audience to reconnect with him and his storyline since we all know it will be extremely important. I'm very curious to see how they handle that. sausagekingchi
Ah, the leeches scene:In the book, Melisandre is possibly hundreds of years old, does not need sustenance, is immune to poisons and extreme temperatures. In the show she is now forced to trickery/sexual baiting to get royal blood... that´s not worthy of her.The Burning of the Leeches: Not that impressive either. I would have wished a something like the scene where she showed Stannis the vision in the flames; that one was a lot more powerful, erotic even. Honestly, I wish they would have used Gendry in the original Edric Storm role and kept the leeches between Stannis and Melisandre.Besides, how much blood did they suck, exactly, in those 30 seconds between being applied and removed again? If I remember correctly, a lot of what Melisandra does is trickery. She admits to it during her internal monologue in ADWD. We all know the sword is BS and that she doesn't really know what she is seeing in her visions the vast majority of times. Her real powers only really kicked in once she reached the Wall.
protar
Screw it, giving it a 9. Wish there was an 8.5 option though. Great episode overall with few real complaints. Dany great, Dragonstone great, Sam great. The wedding was very good but I wish they would stop whitewashing Tyrion.
Moseh Khayim
8. Could have been a 9, but the expected Coldhands did not show up. + Tyrion/Sana wedding.+ Mel naked (better than Dany imo).+ Boobiehilt.- No Coldhands.- No lead up to the RW.- Daario = Jaqen? It would be cool to start using Bran's dreams to fill in some of the exposition that will eventually be needed.
kevin1989
Give it a 9, everything was perfect, but why did Mel put a leech on Gendry's private part? This is not the Mel from the books.

Ashas Globetrotter
Very strong- give it a 9.I still don`t get why people react to the nudity scenes- do they forget that the books are filled with sexploitation?I really hoped it was the Other and not coldhands, because I was afraid they would drop Sam the Slayer. Beauuuuuuutiful scene.I agree with Rob and Cat - They have been toned down too much and viewers will not be able too care as much about them and their futures as in the book. Same as the indifferent, sloppy treatment of the Bran and Rickon alleged deaths in season 2. So what could be the most shocking scene in tv history next sunday sadly won`t be, I fear. (but I am stoked as hell nevertheless, of course ;P) Edited May 20, 2013 by Ashas Globetrotter
Honourable Ser
Where do I start... I loved every single minute of it. Even Daario, who I loathed with a violent passion in the books, impressed me hugely. Peter Dinklage and Sophie Turner were brilliant, as were Jack Gleeson and Charles Dance and...well all the actors in King's Landing this week. Special mention to the whole cast on Dragonstone as well, particularly Stephen Dillane and Liam Cunningham. But once again, I find myself stunned by how much Iain Glen and Ian McElhinney managed to steal the show again. Ser Jorah's quips and barely concealed anger were a joy to behold. As for Ser Barristan Selmy, I give you three words that stole the show, and perhaps the whole series (?)!"Gladly Your Grace..." Lord over Seas
I'd give it a 7.The beginning i found great, but IMO it went quickly down at the middle of the episode, specially in King's Landing scenes. The 2 things i disliked the most:Changes in charachters, making them seem totally void:Cersei openly menacing Margaery makes her just makes her over paranoid, and possibly destroys the whole future secret plots she creates against the Tyrells.Tyrion still is the 'perfect' hero. And Sansa too. All their flaws have been deleted, making this two charachters pretty plain, and mostly whiny.Free nude scene for Mel. Again making the viewer watch unwanted porn just for it's own sake. The whole episode was pretty good though, the last scenes just made it go up again.Except for this moment: Joffrey telling Sansa soon she's going to have a Lannister in her, so it doesn't matter which Lannister f*cks her. (Implying it's going to be him who rapes her)What the f*ck!? That's the worst mistake i could imagine in the whole series... how come he knows that he's a Lannister? Scriptwriters seem to haven't read the books. Edited May 20, 2013 by Lord over Seas
Ser Luke.
8.5/10. Fantastic writing. Sam the Slayer was great, and all of Daenerys' scenes were pretty good. I'm not sure if I like who they got to play Daario, but he's done okay so far. It's too bad Mero died so soon, I think he had a lot of potential. The Tyrion/Sansa wedding was perfect as well, Dinklage gave it his all and it truly paid off.
Talbot
Well his mother is a Lannister, his court is very Lannister. He has gold hair. He's not that bright. He's at a Lannister wedding. He also is a Lannister.
Lord over Seas
Well his mother is a Lannister, his court is very Lannister. He has gold hair. He's not that bright. He's at a Lannister wedding. He also is a Lannister.I don't buy it. If Joffrey knows he's a Lannister, he can't believe he's the rightfull king and thus he can't act like he was. And if he sais that because his mother is a Lannister, it still makes no sense, because the child Sansa would have after his rape would be a Baratheon, like he himself believes he is, not a Lannister. It's still a horrible mistake.
David Selig
Except for this moment: Joffrey telling Sansa soon she's going to have a Lannister in her, so it doesn't matter which Lannister f*cks her. Scriptwriters seem to haven't read the books. IIRC Joff learned it in the second season, from the Stannis letters about the twincest, which he seemed to believe. Jafer Flowers
Great episode. Would've been nice if the Hound actually said 'bloody wedding' at the end of his scene like the book.
Lord over Seas
IIRC Joff learned it in the second season, from the Stannis letters about the twincest, which he seemed to believe. And still he acts and believes he's the rightfull king. It still seems to me as a scriptwriter's fatal mistake.
rmholt
I can't believe all the up-tight nitpickin!to y'all that voted a 6 or lowerI love you guys and I'm going to sound like a bit of a dick here, my apologies in advance:WHAT ON EARTH do you want? a whole other show? LOLIf this doesn't do it for you then might as well give up on it nowYES - tyrion and stannis and sansa are different than in the books, Lots of things are; because it's not a book nevertheless, they do 90% of the SAME critical junctures as in the books, ultimately. the plot has to hook up bottom line:GRRM isn't Mr Perfect. Some depictions in the show really are improvements. Some are not, absolutely...and guess what? that's OK!It's OK because the only freaking way this series gets made at all is by HBO - who else can do it better...AT ALL??? YOU???!!! ME??!! LOLOLOLPart of it is people having hard expectations, thus setting themselves up for disappointment. Many posts are already anticipating the next shows and are doomed to be disappointed proportionately with how bad they want certain events to be portrayed and how. aFeastForDragons
Great episode! Pros:Stannis and Davos Scene - Amazing! The weddingThe Hound and AryaThe Second SonsOnly little nitpicking that got me was Cersei openly threatening Margery but we have to remember this isn't the books. They need to ad things like this to keep people's interest in characters.
rmholt
Coldhands I expect will show up. It might even be exactly like in the book - rescuing Sam and Gilly from wights.I was a little peeved that if I recall Tyrion's scar correctly they are making it bigger and redder - which would be less distracting if they had started it that way.Just because Mel hasnt burned Gendry <yet> doesnt mean she wont. JUST AS IN THE BOOK Stannis held her back so she settled for leeches. For now. Just because she didnt kill him now doesnt mean she doesnt want to. I wonder if she is looking to make another shadow baby - if she does and sends it after Balon Greyjoy I will be a little curious about how the FM turn out in the show. But it would make sense of the action between Mel and Gendry. This episode was a study in facial expressions and body language. Tyrion did the wooden prick thing pretty well.I kinda wish they had given Daario the fancy dyed and sculpted hair and beard - why not? But they sure gave him the right knives.
