Inigima
Supposedly Bournemouth want Carlton Cole. We should be so lucky. Not that we have a guaranteed powerhouse strike force he's blocking, mind. Will be interesting to see if those new signings can hold up... EDIT: Lots of people pointing out that he's been "loyal" to West Ham. Which is true, but, well, he's not very good and until now I've never heard of anyone else wanting him. So I don't know what that's worth, although I appreciate him coming in and rescuing us last season. After originally failing to pass a fitness test. Which speaks volumes about the state of the rest of the squad.
MercenaryChef
germaine jones to mls team new england revolution. in theory i suppose it is good for the domestic league to bring home our best players to ply their trade. but, truly that cannot be good for actually making these players better. i love mls but i feel it overall stunts the growth of that players who should be playing abroad to in four more years represent the usa in the world cup. but, the part about his move that i hate the most is that it was handled by a random drawing of straws over whether he went to new england or chicago. that is just insane. if he wants a move to mls why not have it handled via his agents and the team he wants to go to? that sounds like how a professional league might handle things. as a player i would feel like some sort of product or item rather than a person and a wanted player if the league was going to have essentially a lottery for my services. this reeks of the banality that was the league paying a good portion of dempsey's move from spurs last year. it is hard to defend our league from naysayers when this sort of silliness goes on. Mexal
Jones coming back to MLS isn't going to stunt his growth since his growth is finished. At his age, perfect time to come to US. Agreed about lottery. So stupid in every way.ETA: Chelsea buys and buys and does alright. That strategy can definitely work. Hate it but it can work. Alex.
Tonight should be a goodie, Super Mario shall be in attendance :D So up for tonight. Mario should get a big cheer as well I'd think. No doubt there will be footage of his assist for Aguero played at some point...
Mark Antony
Fucking readyyy and oddly enough not really that nervous. We lost this fixture last year so we can't do worse haha, hope to see Moreno slot in.
Alex.
Sure you can do worse. You could, for instance, lose in the manner that Norwich, Man United and Arsenal all lost at our place ETA: And Tottenham
Iskaral Pust
I'm on a week-long visit to family in Ireland. The one silver lining to this torture was that I expected to be able to watch 'Pool vs. City live tonight. Now my parents have sprung a surprise theatre trip this evening to watch an adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. Fucking hell. I am so ready to go home. Raja
Iskaral, That is so harsh. I just hope I don't have to listen to Waddle tonight. That is all I want.

Jon AS
It seems Werder have failed to make any new superstar signings during my weekend away from the internet. Not entirely surprising considering they don't have any money. And the draw at Hertha earns them 6th place. It may be early in the season, but I'm reading that as a good sign. Jones coming back to MLS isn't going to stunt his growth since his growth is finished. At his age, perfect time to come to US. You do realise this will be the first US-based team he'll be playing for in his career?:P

Alex.
Zabaleta. And Liverpool have Joe Allen on so I'd say that tilts the balance towards us

Which speaks volumes about the state of the rest of the squad.I like Cole. For a big striker, he's neither very good in the air nor a real finisher. He holds up play well, but doesn't see passes well enough for a guy who has his back to the goal so much. He's never really been quite good enough for the Prem, but he could be really useful in a lower league. Under Zola, he came alive for a while, but that stopped abruptly when Zola left. Still, I like him. Always have. I think only Mark Noble's played more games for us, of our active players.

Nas!
Yeah, I wouldn't even take Joe Allen in our midfield.
