Can you explain what’s going on here?

People outraged about immigration are attacking the RNIB for rescuing immigrants crossing the Channel in small boats rather than letting them drown.
Except that the RNIB is the Royal National Institute for thr Blind, a charity that helps blind people.

The rightwingers in fact want to be attacking the RNLI, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a charitable organisation who rescue people at sea.

It would be infinitely better if they attacked neither.

The first Dalek story from 1963 has been recut as a 75-minute event movie and colourised, with a new Murray Gold soundtrack, and will drop on BBC iPlayer on the day of the anniversary itself (23 November).

Interesting idea. The 1960s Doctor Whos (and to be honest quite a few of the 1970s as well) are slow-as-fuck in pacing, so tightening them up with an optional movie edit version is not necessarily a bad idea (despite the purists fuming), as long as the originals remain available. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they've colourised the entire story for people who want to see it in colour but not cut.

There’s been a few edit cuts of classic stories included in the DVD’s. Some definitively needed it.

Just came home from a doctor’s visit. I’ve had a persistent little cough for almost two years that recently got worse, My doctor thinks it might be related to acid-reflux, and the last time he saw me two months ago he wanted to know if I wanted a prescription antacid. I declined, but since then it’s worse I asked for one. He wondered if possibly I had Covid, so we did the rapid test and, thank the gods, I was clear. I just attended a baby shower on Saturday and my friend is 8 months pregnant. I was afraid, I have to admit. He also referred me to a respirologist, (sp?) thinking it could possibly be late-onset asthma. Ugh.

But while I was there I got the extra strong flu shot. They used to also do Covid shots, but that’s completely in the hands of pharmacies now. I’ll get my Pfizer booster next week.

Have you been x-rayed? A persistent cough for two years is a concern.

…..aaaaaand, I ended up with Tax Partner again, last night. Ahem. He lives 10 convenient minutes away from me.

I am going to now attempt to not fall into something too quickly. He has such a delightfully deep voice. Amazing shoulders and arms. Let me stay at his place after he had left, so I could sleep - he put the key on the table and told me to just lock the door and put the key under the mat when I left.

The Doctor didn’t trust me with his keys and it had been a year and a half.

It’s been one week since that phone discussion - Doc has one week remaining to consider.

Surely the doctor has burned his bridges and mined the river separating the banks by now?

What is happening with Nicola Sturgeon and her husband anyway? I just checked on line for stories about the investigations with regard to misuse of donated funds, and the police keep arresting one or the other and then releasing them without charge. Isn’t that an abuse of process? Did they think getting arrested would scare them into a confession?

They don’t ‘keep arresting’ them. They were detained once (i think) and had half of Policr Scoand camped in their garden at one point, but so far as I’m aware it’s still an investigation.

Black Flag has terrific sailing combat that was first trialed out in AC3 and AC: Rogue (maybe? Haven't tried it yet).

It also has The Best soundtrack out of all of them, courtesy of Brian Tyler. There is some debate over which is better: AC2 or AC: Black Flag. I still prefer AC3 the most as I like the setting and enjoy having both city and wilderness areas to explore.

Out of curiosity, what exactly did Origins do that makes it different from Unity/Syndicate? It has levelling/stats and regions with enemies of differing levels, as in earlier games. (I own Origins but struggled to enjoy it, not quite sure why.)

AC Rogue came out after Black Flag, basically one last AC game for the xbox360/ps3 generation. It’s a reskin of Black Flag and leads into Unity.

Apparently the shooter is a 40 year old white man armed with a semiautomatic weapon, he’s from the army reserve and had/has mental health issues… Maines gun laws are rather relaxed and in recent years several attempts to change that have failed…

Funny how the white terrorists all have mental health issues, whereas no one seems to bother making any such diagnosis for the ones convinced there’s 90 virgins waiting for them
