euron crows eye greyjoy
Hey! Are there any hints given by any of the show writers out there giving news about the Greyjoy storyline? It would just be so devastating, it was literally my favourite part of the books... :crying: Do you think they could cut it completely? I'm sorry if there was already a discussion to this, apparently the search engine is down or something.
Wyman Manderly's Meat Pies
well they felt the need to keep using Yara. Hopefully.
Nihlus
Balon isn't even dead yet, and Vic and Aeron have been completely retconned out of existence. Euron might have been too, and everyone seems to have forgotten about Balon. Even Stannis and Davos, who in the books specifically pointed out that "two is not three" in regards to the number of kings Melisandre claimed to have killed. So yes, it seems they're not going to do shit with the Ironborn, unless Euron = Daario. Sorry, they have to use that screen time and money for the vital stuff. Like Sansa going North, Jaime killing people in Dorne, Tyrion getting showered in compliments by Marxys, and Brienne teleporting around Westeros to have random fights with random guys. Dornish pasty
I think that if Vic's arrival turns out to be the catalyst for Dany to head off to westeros it makes sense for the TV show to do the whole ironborn plot in one season (6). Event wise they could easily fit all the main parts into a couple of episodes. Kings Moot, bit of pillaging on the coast intertwined with some euron backstory, then a voyage to mereen. Not much really, certainly not worth spreading over 2 seasons

Lord Sapna
I got given a book about the making of the TV show for my birthday, in it goes through all the houses that are there, and in Dorne for example Arianne and Quentyn are missing, for the Tyrells, Garlan and Willas are missing. For the Greyjoys, Victarion and Aeron are missing but Euron is still in. I think that annoying as it is as it really puts off that whole leech burning scene back in series 3 but I think they will still go to the Iron Islands, and that's why Balon's death is put off. Also I know the dreadfort scene was really bad, but I think it was just a way of reminding people about Balon and Yara, wouldn't be any need unless there was something later. Shpati
I have a feeling that Euron=Daario might hold true for the show, not the books. Imo, you can't just skip the Iron Islands. It'd be a plot twister and allow the writers to progress the Iron Island story in a short period of time.

Weeping Sore
Maybe Theon is the replacement for Euron, he sails to Mereen and becomes the new captain of the Unsullied after Grey Worm runs off with Missandei for a life of frustrated hugs and raising former slave orphans. Win-win!
Udvarnoky
Do you think they could cut it completely? While it's possible some version of the Greyjoy storylines show up in Season 6, right now my belief is that Theon and Yara will more or less be the only ironborn characters covered by the show. Theon's uncles do exist in the show canon, because Tyrion acknowledges them (he distinctly says "uncles," plural) in Season 1 dialog about the Greyjoy rebellion. That doesn't mean they'll ever show up, though, and at this point it seems like they won't. I interpreted Daario's very specific 93 ship delivery to Dany in Season 4 as being a little wink to the readers, indicating that Victarion's function in the book has been replaced. And I've gotta say that as fun as the Daario = Euron theory is to read about, I'm always shocked when people say they actually believe it.

Yeah, I think that's pretty much it-- The Daario=Euron stuff is so much fun that people want to believe it. Personally I find the book Ironborn stuff to be very convoluted without this theory-- Why is Euron sending someone he knows hates him to claim his most valuable prize? Why is Euron, the guy who says the last thing he wants to be doing is raiding the Reach, seemingly spending all of ADWD doing just that? What role does the dragon horn play? Dusky woman? Personally i'm all for cutting out the Ironborn. Having 4 different POVs for them is insane.
TeethGrinder
Every single show ever made has suffered from a lack of Victarion Greyjoy. GOT will be no different. Euron Naharis is totally coming though. And I will laugh.

bloodsteel bitterraven
I have a feeling the Greyjoy uncles will all be cut and Yara will take whatever role Euron has in the Winds of Winter. What really sucks is that we will be deprived of the Asha/Theon reunion in ADwD, one of my favorite moments in the entire series. :(
pettes
The greyjoy storyline is fast. The kinsmoot along with balons death can be explained in one or two episodes. Viktarion and areon are unnecessary (euron will ho to Slavers bay) and the reaving of the mander and eurons leaving in another. Then euron will show up in season six. Poppa Chase
So I got a theory about Balon's death. Arya gets her training on for a bit and then joins the kindly Hagar or some other assassin to slay him because why not. Then Yara is all pissed and says she will continue in her fathers footsteps but then all of a sudden Euron shows up and takes command so we have a new badass super pirate brought in as a temporary villain of season
The Anti-Targ
My guess is the Greyjoys have been largely cut from the show because it's too much to keep them in for the remainder of the series. They were needed in order to have Winterfell taken from the hands of the Starks, and then delivered by Royal decree into the hands of the Boltons. But after that the only Greyjoy the continues to serve a purpose is Theon, because he is probably going to save Sansa and deliver her to Stannis. So he retains relevance to the wider plot. I'm also guessing Dave and Dan have simplified the whole Dany storyline (and the ultimate end game of the war against the Others) so as to exclude any Greyjoy element. From the perspective of the show the Greyjoys are superfluous. But I do wish news would come to the Boltons that Balon is dead, so we can see the reaction, or non-reaction, on Theon's face. And so that things are lined up with the books in terms of would be kings who have died, and things have lined up with the leech burnings.
D-Shiznit
There is no Greyjoy storyline, and that's the good news. The show is limited in its time, we need it focused on the core characters.
