Rant and Rave: Dorne Postmortem (Book Spoilers )

Back to Dorne.

So, seriously, where can they take this plot with Myrcella obviously poisoned...and Bronn will know it's the same poison...whether they have him remember or not is anyone's guess. But, it should be pretty clear even to Larry that she was poisoned by the SS and Ellaria.

Will he turn the ship around?

Is she really dead?

How is Doran not going to have them all killed?

How is Tryst not getting at least the high born prisoner treatment?

1 - turn the ship around and... what? lol

2 - yeah, I think so

3 - I certainly hope he kills 'em all.

4 - I think he will, though. I mean, what else could they do with the character? he'll get locked up somewhere not too uncomfortable and forgotten. unless Cersei gives him to Qyburn.

Crackpot: Jaime and Co will teleport to the Riverlands, find the BwB and make them resurrect Myrcella. And she would rise as Lady Fancydress and she and Trystane will have half-Twilight half-Let the Right One In- relationship drama.

hahahahahaha brilliant. I hope it happens exactly like that!

My own thoughts were that the ship will go back and Doran will kill Ellaria. Jaime will let Trystane remain in Dorne and when he returns to KL and explains it to Cersei, this is the reason she sends him off to the Riverlands if its true they are including it in s6. I'm probably way off but that was what first crept into my mind.

And for a rant part of this post, there will be bewbs, somehow, someway...

Yeah, it could happen like that. I just think it doesn't make much sense, but that doesn't mean anything at all. The one thing I'm certain of is that Cersei will turn Jaime away. :bang:

The way the story is currently going, I'm not sure Jaime will go back to KL. If he shows up after letting Tyrion go which killed his father and letting Joffrey die on his watch AND letting Myrcella die in his arms? She might have him killed for failing his king's guard duty. In the books he had stepped away from her and had more control-now I think he'll either magically hear about Tyrion in Mereen and head there for vengeance, or go to the Riverlands in an attempt to call in Frey support (they owe Lannisters and they are still alive) to oust the sparrows before her trial or something.

Or he'll go home and she'll get him to tell her where all the jars of wildfire are and he'll have to "little brother" her.

You know what? I honestly have no idea at this point lol

Julia's member title is in Tyenespeak! <O>

Julia’s member title is an actual Tyene quote....

I refuse to apologize for my avatar.

And I refuse to accept that Arianne and the real Tyene weren’t perfectly adaptable.

If they make him avoid KL altogether - and I'm not saying they won't, it's quite possible actually - they'll make him a coward on top of stupid.

OT: from an interview Martin gave (google translate from Norwegian):

It depends what you mean by the end. In addition to many small I have twelve main characters with twelve different endings, and not all of these will have the same end of TV as in the books. But (journ.anm: creators) David (journ.anm: Benioff) and Dan (journ.anm: Benioff) and I have had several discussions around this over the years, and they know the main outlines of the story. So I suppose it is the same person who is going to sit on the iron throne eventually.

I assume he will go back? and Carol will berate him and send him away, and he'll slink off again? But who knows.

Yeah, that's what I think too. I was replying to RBBeyondAsshai

Although there's so little of Jaime left in Larry... Anything could happen to/with his character.

No one's saying that was their guiding motivation. But given their love for Tyrion, given their dumbing down of her in S3 for his benefit, given the sentiments from many in the fandom regarding their relationship, and given the fact that they put the words into her mouth "he was very gentle" 3 seconds before being raped, you don't think there's an unfortunate revenge-porn-esque implications? I'm saying it's what their narrative is telling us; that Darth Sansa was a bratty girl who thought she knew better and was wrong. And by having the call out to Tyrion right before her brutalization, their narrative tells us that she "should have appreciated him."

It's the messaging, not the intent or "reasoning" behind it, that's the issue.

Yep, they even said, she thought she could control the situation, she was told to sexually manipulate him, but she found out she couldn't.

Of course, the whole thing is absurd, he's the enemy, he flays people, he's allied with his father who killed her family and is a known rapist, he's occupying her home. She knew that going into it. Worse than bad is still bad.

But virgin Fansa, who they have armed with the maturity and intelligence of a toddler, is going to sexually manipulate him? And even if she could, once he gets an heir by her, she's dead. A Stark choosing to become a Bolton is absurd.

They never showed her going from horrified by Cersei telling her to fuck her way to the top to yeah, I'm down with that. It came out of nowhere. They made her play a dumber, less sympathetic Jeyne. The storyline stripped down to rape.

Then seconds before she's raped, the contrast was intentional, she got off easy last time, thanks to the goodness of Saint Tyrion. If only she appreciated him, and wasn't so eager to toss that marriage aside, none of this would have happened.

Sexism is about the choices they make portraying these women, and that's applicable to Dorne, and other storylines, as well.

You will.

You will indeed, else I shall have your precious blight, tumblr, razed from insufferable subforums to overwrought, pretentious articles, all of it.

You will, else be subjected to the bastardised Dorne from the show in slow motion a thousand times over until the sun sets in the east and west.

You will.

Oh I know. I'm just considering what they did to him this season and attempting to take it from there. I hope he confronts her. He needs to get back to his character arc.

Actual!Tyene is super adaptable, actually. She's kind of pulpy, in a good way. Arianne is also relatively easy to adapt, even though she's not the most charismatic character, in my opinion (though she's no less deep because of that)

For the record, this is my headcanon Tyene:

Though I have to admit that if they had adapted her properly, I would've preferred if the role had gone to a WOC because a) GoT has a lack of POC in general and b ) because I don't share the notion that "innocent looks" = blue eyes and blonde hair

Not mutually exclusive?

They certainly were not in any way required to frame Tyrion as a saint in those circumstances. When Lysa asked Sansa that question her answer was "he had whores" so...

Indeed. And Pimp Daddy already assured them she was a virgin, he offered to show them and all.

I think they will plug him back into his storyline a la Shae. Shae-horn him in.

I refuse to consider the Tarth gaze as part of the Porne story, that was en route.
