I'm starting to wonder if that's something we progressives want. His mad dogs seem to have quieted significantly, I'm starting to doubt there would be the envisioned split even if they did so.

1) And replace Trump with?

2) Just how big is Cleveland's police force?

But yes, it would be in keeping with the rest of this election.  Can't you just envision some Fox News talking head trying to spin the biggest riot of the 21st century?

Probably a dessicated corpse of Ronald Reagan. Or Dick Cheney. Or Mitt Romney.

They've had to deal with 50 years of disappointed sports fans. Republicans rioting will be fine.

Remember, when white people riot it isn't rioting. They're just angry people who are celebrating or protesting.

No doubt he's as phoney as those polls, so Trump can keep on Trumping.

Trump supporters are having other Trump supporters ejected from Trump rallies for not being Trumpy enough.

The audience matched the tone of Trump’s speech. Before Trump came on stage an announcer asked – as is customary at Trump rallies – that supporters identify any protesters to security and shout “Trump! Trump! Trump!” until the dissenters were removed.

There were protesters, and their presence was particularly obvious in the smaller, dimly lit venue. When security escorted them out through the emergency exits, the opened doors shot rays of sunlight across the theater.

The suspicion of protesters reached a point at which Trump supporters were informing on each other for not being “real” supporters. One woman pointed security toward a couple sitting quietly in their seats. “Them,” she mouthed.

The couple seemed baffled and denied to a security agent that they were anything but genuine Trump admirers. He waved them toward the exit and said, “Let’s go.”

Afterward the informer, who declined to give her name, grinned as onlookers congratulated her. “I heard one of them say ‘Never Trump’,” she said. “And one held up three fingers, like this.”

She held up her hand in a Boy Scout salute.

What did the three fingers signify?

“I have no idea,” she said.

If this were a movie, what would happen next would be that the shadowy powers behind the Republican Party would have Trump assassinated by Muslim Mexican immigrant. Total win-win as far as they're concerned. Trump the live action model is killing them, but Trump the martyr would be a Godsend.

I read an interesting thing about upcoming polling. They are going to switch to likely voter polling and to qualify as a likely voter you have to have voted in the last two national elections.

And since no democrats voted in the 2014 national election most democrats won't be counted and as a result Donald Trump will rocket UP in his poll numbers when they switch to likely voters.

The media is thrilled at this because it means horse race and hand wringing and billions and billions of clicks.

I wonder how many of those geniuses have also spent time getting into Twitter arguments with @Assbott.

Quote

Many Donald Trump supporters on Twitter spent Tuesday afternoon unknowingly arguing with a robot.

@Assbott, which mostly tweets about professional wrestling and baseball, was created to immediately reply to Trump’s tweets, then respond with nonsense sentences to any user who interacts with it. But many of the presumptive Republican nominee’s fans didn’t recognize it wasn’t a person and continued fighting with it until they finally abandoned the conversation. About 10 users per hour continued tweeting at @Assbott well into Tuesday night.

One guys account.

Yet, I recollect tales of massive amounts of cash just plain vanishing.  Read a blurb a while back that a damn big chunk of stolen money dispatched to Iraq was sitting in a vault in Lebanon.  And I keep coming across accounts much of what's spent in Afghanistan goes to bribes.

So, this guy (who was there) recollects stringent procedures against fraud, and you recollect 'tales of' cash vanishing and a 'blurb'. In other words, you're citing the same things Trump was basing his rant on and which the guy with direct first hand experience is rebutting.

On prematurely calling the election as a disaster for Trump: of course it's too early to say with certainty that this is how it's going to be, and the race will have its ups and downs.

But Trump is unusual for so many reasons. For his open racism and xenophobia, for his astonishing unpopularity, for his terrible personal history as a swindler and bullshit artist, for his... "immodest" personal life, for the toxic effect he has on his party and the party's unwillingness to embrace him...

And perhaps most telling on his general election chances, because he still thinks he can run the national campaign as some kind of lean insurgent operation with no real staff, which means sometimes you schedule a rally in a town that should be friendly territory (it's the place in Texas where the "clock kid" incident happened and the mayor is an open anti-Muslim bigot) and then you can't have the rally because no one thought to notify the town two days in advance.

Actually, pretty much unprecedently, the few polls that have already included likely voter numbers have had Clinton's numbers go UP. For instance, she's +7 among registered voters in Wisconsin in that new Marquette poll, but +9 among likely voters.

Now, this is probably a fluke, the idea that Democrats would be more likely voters is kinda nuts, but this has been a very strange cycle. Also, every polling outfit has its own definition for likely voters, there's no standard definition. None of them are strictly "you must have voted in the last two national elections" though, because then there would be no likely voters under age 22. Its true that not many age 18-22 vote, but some do and are very likely to.

Just stumbled on this with Bill Maher from June last year. Who was the first to say Trump would succeed? I think Bill Maher wins that competition.

No wait!

Anne Coulter called it, sort of. And she says Bernie would be a stronger candidate. Back in June 2015!

Holy shit.
