This should be good news. Sean 'better than Tuchel' Dyche should now get the bigger and better job he deserves.

Are you saying that Burnley have done this out of generosity to free Dyche before Ten Hag puts final pen to paper?

No no. United aren't even going to be in the CL. We aren't at the level of Dyche. Most likely Bayern sack that fraud Nagelsmann and hire a real manager in Dyche. Or PSG sack Poch and Dyche leads them to CL glory.

Well he needs an intermediate proofing ground.

In seriousness, whatever you think of Dyche and his potential for higher levels, surely this is absolute madness by Burnley? People may not like the manner in which he does it but who else is gonna keep them at this level with the resources they have? Even if they get a bit of quick NMB and stay up now (which seems unlikely anyway), I can't see that continuing next season unless they're willing to invest more than they have.

If I was Everton, I'd be on the phone to Dyche right now.

We're canning managers at an abmysal rate already, would be mad if we kicked Frank already. He hasn't actually set the world alight, but I find it hard to argue we need to fire him now so we can implement yet another change of style.

The Private Equity Playbook has been a rousing success for so many other businesses, why wouldn't the PL want to incorporate a mix of clubs using it?  Sprinkling the table with a few zombie clubs will just add spice to the mix as they rot and fall down the ladder.

Matic has confirmed that this will be his last season at United. Says he's already spoken to Rangnick and the board. His contract runs to 2023 so remains to be seen whether it is terminated by mutual consent or he moves for a nominal fee - Milan were interested previously.

Shaw is also out for the season most likely. Rangnick says that he was complaining of discomfort in the leg that he had broken in 2015 before the last international break - he had to come off because of that in one of England's friendlies. After consultations with specialists, it was decided that some of the bolts in his leg needed to be removed - he underwent surgery last Saturday and isn't expected to return for at least 4-5 weeks.

I was thinking, that it might just be the best time to appoint someone like Ten Hag who reportedly wants a massive sqaud overhaul. Especially in midfield. With Matic, Pogba and Mata all leaving, both the new manager AND the board will need to fill this area with fresh new players, instead of overlook this area like it's been done for a couple years.

Of course, we might not sign, like 3 new midfielders this summer, sadly. Especially condidering we'll have to sign at least 2 forwards. We could give a few academy players a chance too.

I don't know what to think about the stadium, except I don't want OT gone

How do resident Man Urd fans feel about possibility of a new stadium? The current one is big but shite.

United aren't going to build a new stadium - there were reports some weeks ago but a new stadium was only one option (the least likely). The club have already appointed a team of masterplanners led by Legends International and Populous (the same architecture firm that designed Spurs' stadium) to draw up plans for the redevelopment of Old Trafford as well as the training facilities for the senior, youth and women's teams.

To be fair, Mata's an irrelevance mostly, so we won't be replacing him. I'd imagine his squad place and minutes will be filled by Hannibal or Shoretire.

Of the other two, I strongly suspect that rather than replace Pogba he's going to try to adapt VDB to the linking role. That'll only work with other investment around him, but he'd be a psychopath if he didn't at least give Donny a chance... either that or he'll try Bruno at false nine in some way and use VDB as a 10, in which case we'd defo want another midfielder but be less urgent about hunting a forward.

Matic is the vital one to replace. Like we could honestly muck through the season with no other new midfield signings and focus on other positions if we get a really good DM who can pass- that'd allow much more leeway in who plays the linking role out of McTominay, Fred or VDB without them having to worry about things they're not good at.

I just hope he turfs Ronaldo out.

I had to update the thread title.  I couldn’t resist.

Burnley’s timing is very odd.  They’ve been in free fall for months, and the loss to Norwich was last weekend.  Why wait until Friday just before the next match — against a fatigued opponent with both eyes on Europe — to appoint the kit man and the tea lady as caretakers?  And what do they expect any new manager to achieve in the few remaining games?

I could understand a progressive new manager in the summer to revamp their ugly playing style, clear out dead wood and lead them back to the PL while they have the parachute payments to help them.

But with this timing, my only guess is that they’ll appoint Benitez, and agent Rafa will swoop in to complete his long term plan to relegate Everton.  It was all a long con.

Dyche is the sort of manager you'd bring in out of desperation at this point of the season to grind out a few results, rather than firing, but there we are.

This has the looks of one of those moments for a club: I anticipate Burnley bumping along at the bottom of the Championship for a few years, while we read stories about the owners fighting like cats in a sack.

Can't really see Benitez having the managerial nous to pull that off with Burnley, tbh.

Either that, or he just pretended to be absolute clueless while at Everton.
