What small thing really annoyed you?

Recommended Posts

The fact that the Frey's stiched Grey Wind's head onto Robb's body.

When I look back, I see the Red Wedding as a borderine defensible thing for the Frey's to do, but what they did to Robb's body is probably what makes me actually hate them.

Unanswered questions. Like what happened to Tyreck Lannister during the kings landing riot and who really set that assassin to kill Bran.

Unknown about Tyrek.. Thought he was Fake Aegon until Tyrion looked very closely at him.

Joffrey sent the assassin to kill Bran. He wanted to impress Robert and got the hint that would do it from casual drunken conversations. Robert had the Valyrian dagger and it likely came with the armory in Roberts escort.

Note Jeyne Poole was kept at one of LF's brothels until a suitable role was available. SOmeone, maybe Varys (who wasnt at the riot) has him- in fact the riot was started in order to capture him. In my crackpot opinion

Just listened to the Sansa/Tyrion wedding and it annoyed me that she wouldn't just kneel. Tyrion has suffered enough embarassment in his life would it have killed Sansa to do this small kindness. Yeah I get it was a pride thing or whatever but here are 2 reasons you may have learned in kindergarten that her actions were wrong, 2 wrong don't make a right and the Golden Rule.

Also how Theon makes stuff up his reasons for taking Winterfell and his enmity for the Starks and then fools himself into believing it because it sounds good.

How Catelyn is such a terrible mother. She has 2 children back at Winterfell, one in a coma and one who is a toddler but she insists that Robb "needs" her. What does Robb need you for that his Bannermen can't accomplish? His bannermen can fuck everything up just fine without you (See Roose Bolton and Rickard Karstark)

And finally Catelyn justifying her actions such as the release of Jaime and kidnapping of Tyrion.

I dont know why this annoyed me, but when Catelyn captures Tyrion, she notices some Freys. Later as she's on her way to the Eyrie..... no Freys came with her. But I guess it was to be expected of them.

The conservativeness of the Night's Watch annoys me, but while I can somewhat understand their reservations about working with wildlings or assisting Stannis, etc, it really irritates me lately is when Bowen Marsh and co are all "how can you make Satin your steward, they're usually groomed to become Commander, and no man of the Watch will follow a whore into battle".

As Jon points out, they've followed a damn-sight worse. Rapists, murderers, torturers, whatever, they're all good candidates, being proper savage men and all, but a former whore is unworthy, nevermind that he probably has more spotless 'honour' than some of their knights, and seems capable.

Though the derision towards prostitutes in real worlds and fictional ones always annoys me anyway.

Edit: It also annoys me the way Victarion keeps talking about how he's going to go and claim Dany like she's a bag of potatoes you can buy at the market. With the iron price, of course. *rolls eyes*

@Honor is a Horse, related to that thing about Catelyn, it annoys me whenever someone (usually in the real world) claims that Cersei is a good mother. She's protective, yes, but also abusive and posessive, and spoilt Joffrey way too much. She even considers him a good king and son (compared to Tommen) prior to her walk.

The one thing that sort of irked me was that GrrM completely ignored smoking.

He's inserted several, if not dozens, of different alcoholic concoctions. From Fermented mares milk to firewater to wines and ales.... But yet I can't recall a single instance of someone smoking....anything.

Not saying we need a bunch of aristocrats puffing tobacco pipes, or tribesmen toking peace pipes, or High Garden bums in opium dens.... but shouldn't there at least be something?

(Only bugs me because I don't drink, or do crazy mind-altering Shade of the evening psychedelics. Just a cig now and then to pass the time/ease the stress)

I was surprisingly bothered when Sansa didn't kneel for Tyrion. Yes, I know she had been abused by Joffrey and her entire family betrayed by the Lannisters, but my heart broke for Tyrion to have been humiliated that way. He had been kind to her, he gave her the option of marrying Lamcel and she knew how his family treated him. I appreciate her strength to not submit to the humiliation she was feeling, but it seemed directed at the wrong person... IMO a poor time to 'forget her courtesies'.

The fact that Dany spends 4 books (not counting AFFC) wanting to take the throne that is 'hers', yet to me seems totally uninterested in learning anything detailed about Westeros, the lands, families, politics, the whole picture. She knows a few basics, but really it's all quite simple - she'll just arrive there with her dragons and everyone will be so glad to see her! She's not even really interested in learning the complete truth about her own family history from Barristan - but of course, that might destroy her illusions about the 'wonderful' Targaryans and how she'd be welcomed back.

I see the femi-nazi movement has taken roots in westeros..... :commie:

Seriously, you're concerned with what I think? What is truely inexcusable is the fact that you think I'm not entitled to my opinion because you happen to disagree with it.

Get over yourself.

now pardon me while I try to get back to my happy place......

I am pretty sure you can be disgusted by casual acceptance of gang-rape and not be a femi-nazi

also, pretty sure the prior comment referred to the POV's (and not your) acceptance

People make too much of this. For Tyrion it was a humiliation, of course, but I don't think Sansa was motivated by anything in doing it. I think it happened because she was awkward, afraid and unprepared - the political farce of a ceremony hit a snag and she just froze. It's not like they had a wedding rehearsal !

Indeed.
